Typical over-reaction. Bury the old guy, anoint the new guy. Both will be important contributors going forward.

No one is burying anyone, this is about what makes the team better....Mulcahy is better off the ball, then allow him to create.....he isn't a PG at this level of basketball on a consistent basis.

We need 3 point shooting and he's better off spotted up doing that from the corners or wings. If that means he takes up Hyatts minutes until he's back on track, so be it.

We are getting mileage out of Oskar and Simpson in February. It takes everyone to contribute to a winning team.

Nah Paul is a better passer and ball handler than Simpson. And usually (although not the past 4-5 games) he makes the right decisions. There's nothing wrong with Simpson playing off the ball. He needs to play way more because he can break down the defense with his speed but he's not shown to be a consistent shooter and his D needs to improve.

But I love him and his future is super bright.

The bottom line is, it’s going to be different guys on different nights. Simpson was great tonight, but had so much trouble with Michigan. He was brilliant against Indiana, but had trouble with some other opponents. It’s the same for everyone on this team pretty much. Who is anointed should be on a game by game basis.

Ei Leon’s ability to drive should also help get Cam some open looks. Which will only help the O

There are plenty of people burying Paul in threads tonight, ready to write him off to the bench and acting like Simpson is ready to take over PG and play 30-35 mins a game.

Most of these will be the same people to trash Simpson on his next game where he plays closer to a freshman vs. his performance tonight.

Paul needs to get his head on straight and figure it out if we’re gonna make a tournament run. We will also need our top 8ish guys to be ready to play in any given night if we want to make a run.

People say Oskar sucks, but you know what, he made the first massive dent in that outrageous comback with two gorgeous triples from corner.

Yep, same people that were saying Cam can't play in the B1G when he was going through his shooting slump. They just change the name and make the same nonsensical comments.

Every game it's a different player stepping up for RU. There is not one go to player on the squad like there was with RHJ & Geo on the roster the last few years.

The one thing these comments make clear is that many have never played high level sports and expect perfect execution literally every minute a player is on the floor.

What I like most about that video is how happy and engaged Hyatt is in the celebration (after essentially being benched the entire 2nd half). Several dikheds on this board have been burying him, but he has a huge role to play if we want to succeed through March!

PS - similar for Paulie.

This entire team loves each other and hopefully they don’t read this message board, and if they do know this is a small segment of the fan base, many who live far away and don’t attend the games anyway

Paul has simply lost his mojo. He needs Simpson to take the pressure off him, and let Paul get his points in the flow of the game. From there he can be a little more ball dominant once he has his confidence back.

Agreed. Something has seemed off with Paul mentally for a good stretch now.
Maybe the decision to come back/not come back next year is weighing on him? Thinking too much about that?
Girlfriend issues? Family issues?
Whatever it is, if he gets back to playing his best, we can be a second-weekend team.

Absolutely - "connected" is getting overused as a whole, but it truly seems to apply to this team.
I am a relatively new fan, but it seems like that's a Pike thing - from everyone he's hired to the guy who hired him, to the guys he recruits - that ability to be connected to each other seems like his highest priority.

There’s no way Paul is better ball handled. Equal if anything. He dribbled to nowhere and looks to pass instead of shoot.

That is awesome. Meet your new point guard. Mulcahy is a mess right now. Not sure why but until he gets his head screwed on straight we need more Simpson. Speed kills.
He seems to not trust his shot, and when he drives to the basketball he is looking for an assist not to score. This causes slow movement and turnovers.

But he’s always been pass first. At least before when he wasn’t scoring he had quality assist numbers. Had none yesterday. He can impact without scoring - but hasn’t lately.
