Excellent and honest responses from Coach Pike. Refreshing to hear.

P.S. Who had "connected" being said most times again in the post game bingo?

Horrible questions

How about, Hyatts minutes drastically decreased?
Jalen Miller 2 threes - given green light on offense or did his own thing?
Decision to sub or keep in Cliff late with the fouls?
For future - what’s practice schedule for this week given tournament schedule uncertainty?

All interesting questions

Instead we got; do you think you avoided the first four?
Did you agree with the officiating?
I mean these reporters are morons

Looks like Miller's only credited with one missed three in the box score - was his foot on the line with the other, or did they count it as a pass?

Based on the shots they prob feel
Embarrassed giving him credit an attempt

Geez , Miller hardly takes shots, did make a key basket and was wide open on those 3's and had to take them--- why blast the kid-- do you think he wanted to miss them
Agreed if you’re a big 10 guard who is playing more than garbage minutes you have to take those to keep the defense true and free up the floor. Would have really helped if one drew iron tho lol

"Two really physical teams, but I guess we got caught more than they did"
This is as close as our Coach gets to saying, "Yeah, the refs sucked". He knows we play physical, tough defense and going to frequently get whistled more than the other guys. But, he's never going to call anyone out in public...too much class. I agree with him....I wouldn't want to play Rutgers in the tournament, and I hope we clobber someone in Round 1. GO COACH (get those recruits committed and/or signed)! GO RU!,

Miller's foot wasn't behind the line

He needs to drive and either pull up like that made bucket or try to take it to the rim or drive to dish. He clearly has no confidence at all on his 3 ball

Yep. Sometimes I wonder how carefully we scouted him
He had some nice tape coming out of HS. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out when you move to arguably the best conference in college basketball.

Painter stated the defensive strategy was to limit Spencer 3 point shots and let the other Rutgers players take the ourside shots.Spencer only took four 3 point shots and made two of them.Next season the coaching staff needs to redesign the half court offense to better utilize the 3 point shot because its a difference maker in so many games.

Next year will be very different with another quality shooter on the other side

Really like Painter.

I really like Pike too -- but it's crazy when you put these two press conferences next to each other. Pike is the king of saying almost nothing, I wish he'd give us a little more like Matt does here.
Pike seems to go by the old saying 'What you see here, what you hear here, stays here when you leave here'. He was clearly annoyed by the cellphone smash story getting out. He plays it close to the vest. Just who he is.

You kidding? He did not HAVE to take them. He showed a nice shot from elbow area.. why not take a couple steps in and elevate.. or pass? Same goes for Cliff's three.. he either needs to set up farther away so he can step into the shot with some kind of motion/rhythm or pass the ball... or don't set up out there at all.

ABout that smash teh phone thing to say don't listen to what you see on social media... could it be that the legitimate criticisms they saw online actually helped motivate them to correct things?

Seriously
Everyone on the court plays a role
He’s a defensive microwave
Little juice hounding the ball…and he had a bucket to boot as gravy

Hate the loss but it's hard not to like Purdue watching that presser. The kids and coach seem pretty solid. Probably my favorite non-Rutgers conference team.
Purdue runs a fundamentally sound half court offense based on screens, passing and player movement which creates open shots .Rutgers limited Edey scoring but still loss because Purdue got too many offensive rebounds and made more 3 pointers.
