Do you think his move to corner the last couple of practices and during the spring game was caused by....

a. The staff became more comfortable with Whitley playing FS and decided to get a more talented player across from Langston.

b. The staff is not confident with Broomfield/Watson.

c. Justtinkering around because of Broomfields injury and to get Whitley and Thames more run at FS.

I think they're looking for someone else who can play corner. I don't think Watson has done anything to prove he's capable of playing CB in the SEC. Right now we've only got 3 guys we can depend on there (Langston, Broomfield, & Anderson). If either of them go down we could be in trouble. We've got more depth now at safety - Mitchell, Smith, Bonner, Whitely, & Thames. All seem to be capable of somewhat playing the position.<div>
</div><div>If those 3 CBs do a decent job during fall practice, I think we'll see Banks back at safety. But at the first sign of trouble from any of these guys & we could see a mid-season move. And if he proves to be more talented at CB than Anderson or Broomfield, that might be his future position in 2011 & 2012.</div>

Mullen specifically mentioned Whitley and Thames as players that have stood out in the spring. If either of those guys can play, and if Banks can play a decent CB, then maybe Banks is our nickel CB and Whitley/Thames is a nickel safety, instead of having to bring Watson in at CB.

Didn't Banks start out at corner last year?

Banks isn't going anywhere. We'll see a lot of Clark at corner next season, but because there is no 3rd clear LB available Diaz has been working Banks at CB for CB blitz packages. Banks is a true safety, and the coaches know it. It's all part of Mullen's obsession to keep teams guessing, whether it be that or the 100,000 guys on offense who play a hybrid form of every position they play.

Arceto "Secret Weapon" Clark is at WR now. Given our numbers at that position, I doubt we see him at CB this fall.
