Thomasville is 1-3 with no jv team. They beat Cummings by one touchdown, a team that had lost 43-0 the week before. We conceivably could end up 6-4, but only because nobody we play has a pulse. Sad state of affairs in the Chair City.Western Guilford 28 Thomasville 14
Carver 44 CPL 0
Man sloppy game from both Thomasville and Western. Bulldogs had many opportunities to win this game but kept falling on their face. Anyway, think we should do well in conference going forward.
Carver 4-0 for the first time in forever. They should be able to win out besides Walkertown and Reidsville.
SC got some guys this year. If they stay healthy it will be interesting to see what they can do.Final
Stuart Cramer: 51
Bessemer City: 6
It’s been fun to watch these kids this year.SC got some guys this year. If they stay healthy it will be interesting to see what they can do.
I mean... at least we beat Cummings THIS time. Its been so long ya know.Thomasville is 1-3 with no jv team. They beat Cummings by one touchdown, a team that had lost 43-0 the week before. We conceivably could end up 6-4, but only because nobody we play has a pulse. Sad state of affairs in the Chair City.

Brevard may not have a close game until deep into the playoffs.41-14 Brevard over north buncombe final
I agree with much of your assessment. But find the last sentence ironic.I mean... at least we beat Cummings THIS time. Its been so long ya know.
Were 1-3 after playing teams that are classified between 4A through 6A. Cummings had a winning record last and used to compete with Reidsville. The caliber of players we have now are nowhere near what we were in the 90s and 2000s. Central Carolina conference been bad for years since Thomasville started going down around 2012. We usually have to compete against one team in conference while everyone else sucks. Since last decade its mostly been Salisbury, and those jacked up ND and Ledford teams with 3A/4A Winston Salem and High Point kids. 6-4 is an improvement regardless, better than 4 wins or worse.
The problem is the community is dead and no money going into the school.
Can you post MA score please?I have seen 119 final scores 1A-8A so far. I am just keeping up tonight, not posting.
Is it still the same superintendent? If so he has the training for bloat in the central office.I agree with much of your assessment. But find the last sentence ironic.
My wife and I attended an event Friday night that was a fundraiser for Thomasville Communities in Schools. Over 200 people paying forty bucks each plus spending other money during the night. Plus sponsors. Everything about the event was donated. I suspect the final tally will be around $40,000 for an organization with the sole mission of helping kids reach their potential. And providing those things that their families can’t.
Now juxtapose that with the spending for several new positions at central office that are being paid well over $100,000 each. Yet the system eliminated the secretary job at the elementary school and the school resource officer shared with the primary school. By the way, most of those recent hires came from Forsyth County. And the school system cut virtually all funding for CIS. And since that 2012 year, central office staff has grown from 29 to 41….while enrollment declined significantly.
There is an election for two school board members soon. Hopefully, that will begin to change some things. You’re absolutely right that traditional public school funding is under attack from several directions. But the community certainly wasn‘t dead last night. They were just not at the football game.
Funny how that works. Can you post MA score please?
On paper they shouldn’t, but a couple of team’s in conference have the ability to execute a game plan that would slow scoring down by Brevard. It would have to be a flawless game plan by most in conference to keep it close.Brevard may not have a close game until deep into the playoffs.
Yessir. Is it still the same superintendent? If so he has the training for bloat in the central office.
Nice, so the community wasn't dead for one night. Nice pat on the back I guess. Also, the community was at the game too.I agree with much of your assessment. But find the last sentence ironic.

You know the great thing? Nobody at that event was looking for a pat on the back. I’d love to sit down and talk with you about all the things going on in Thomasville.Nice, so the community wasn't dead for one night. Nice pat on the back I guess. Also, the community was at the game too.
Exactly they're is several teams in the conference that could potentially give Brevard a fit if they show up to play. And Brevard has yet to have a full 4 quarters of turning it on. They played flat 1st half with erwin and erwin was very close to going up 2 scores before halftime. And last night they was still making good plays but they was flat the entire gameOn paper they shouldn’t, but a couple of team’s in conference have the ability to execute a game plan that would slow scoring down by Brevard. Maybe Franklin can. Those Brooks brothers are great coaches and Franklin is looking good so far this year. West might could pull it off too. Of course its high school football so anything is possible. Swain beat MH so there is hope for us all.On paper they shouldn’t, but a couple of team’s in conference have the ability to execute a game plan that would slow scoring down by Brevard. I was talking about you, not others at the event. To say all that about fundraising and make comment about the community not attending the game is a disservice to the parents and fans that showed up. We had a decent crowd considering. Your first reply about only beating weak teams is also a disservice to the players and coaches, which is the community as well. I could spin that weak schedule argument with a lot of schools in the state. You know the great thing? Nobody at that event was looking for a pat on the back. The festivities Thursday celebrating Will Rainey’s fifteen years in business downtown were pretty well attended. The Finch House Music series draws a crowd. Really looking forward to the Ron Bratton Community Day at First Missionary Baptist next Saturday. About 30-40 folks chipped in over $5000 so the church wouldn’t have to pay for around 500 kids to have a day of fun. Oh, and there’s Everybody’s Night and Everybody’s Day the weekend after. Robert Gilmore’s Class of 1973 has been doing some amazing things.
Way too many things to list here, but please check out the Thomasville Tourism website for a calendar.
It’s sad that most of what goes on no longer revolves around the schools. But things have changed. Often for the better. The furniture industry has been gone for twenty years. But there are more manufacturing jobs here now than back then. The apprenticeship programs are a huge advantage. And skilled trades are begging young people to come learn jobs that pay triple digits.
Perfect? Heck no! But a lot better than a lot of folks seem to think. Now TCS needs to recognize what they need to do to win back community support from more people.
