We need to go after Vigen. I would say pull the trigger now, because we probably won't have a chance next year. It would be typical NU to lose out on a proven winner we could easily get right now.

Did you forget about the retarded extension?

Otherwise, I agree

When matt was hired, trev had the choice of going after Deboer or cigs, my guess is between those two you have over 100 career wins and no losing seasons.

He went all in on matt, who had lots of losing seasons and not a lot of wins.

I get it, there is no sure thing but you don't have to make hiring all that hard.

That 11 win season at Baylor really had us stroking hard. It brought the man tens of millions of dollars.

Who was that guy that everyone thought was going to be the DC? I remember he had quite the HC resume also.

Sounds a lot like Cignetti:

Kehres served as the head football coach at the University of Mount Unionin Alliance, Ohio from 2013 to 2019. In seven seasons at the helm of the Mount Union Purple Raiders football program, he compiled a record of 95–6 and led Mount Union to two NCAA Division III Football Championship titles, in 2015 and 2017. Prior to joining Syracuse, Kehres was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Toledo from 2020 to 2025. Kehres is the son of College Football Hall of Fame inductee Larry Kehres, who preceded him as head football coach at Mount Union

He could've gone after Hugh Freeze and Luke Fickell as well. Wait....

Bill Snyder never went 14-0. Noone is doing what cig has done, he's a unicorn, anomaly, 1 of 1. If he wins a natty he'll be one of the best coaches in cfb history.
All you young people don’t understand what snyder did without the transfer portal, it took several years to build his program , yes mainly from jucos but Kansas was a hotbed with jucos totally different than the portal. You all praise cig let’s call a spade a spade he bought his teams. Like I mentioned in previous posts would Indiana be in the playoffs without the transfer portal? The answer is no

Yes prop 48 is nil today. Same hurdles and issues. It’s a plug and play deal.
Except Bill Snyder was working without a net. When he took chances on juco kids and try hard midwesterners, he needed to make it work within the limitations of that time period. When he took a transfer from another program, they had to sit out a year. None of this woke immediate eligibility bull ****.

There’s a bunch out there. Most never get noticed because universities are more concerned with the feelings of the fans than searching for that laser focused competitor lurking in the low leagues. Look for a guy that can make adjustments and gets the most out of every player. Look for a guy who wants to kill his team when they’re up 30 for missing an assignment - that guy sees the big picture.

With due respect they are not a bunch of Cignettis out there.

The Rhule hire was similar to the Frost hire in a few ways. Lots of wins at a college situation much different than ours. Both were looked at as great "hires" more than great coaches. Neither is a good fit for our culture. Matt seems to be a jack of all trades kind of guy. What Nebraska needs is a no nonsense, hard nosed leader who cares first and foremost about blocking, tackling, and physical sound football. Someone who wakes up every day thinking about how to kick Iowa and Minnesota's ***, and not caring what the fans (with their heads so far up their asses that they think it's still the 90's) thinks.

Mario C is basically doing it. He is in year 3 I think. Imagine that. Year 3.
Mario went under .500 his first 2 years at Miami.

Cig made the playoffs his first 2 years.

Miami talent, resources & history >>>> Indiana

Also, year 4 for Mario.

Bingo. We have a winner. Most leadership just wants to get through the day without too much turmoil. And above all else, keep that money rolling in! Nebraska is the worst at this. We've lost year after year, but just look at that sea of fans? That bald dip **** who gave Rhule an extension is most proud of selling so many $15 beers. Just kiss the big donors asses, hire the biggest name possible and buy yourself and the 100 other administrators another five years of the big salary life.

No. We have a coach. Vigen will move up to a program like ISU at some point but he’s not Gignetti. I think he’s solid and could have done at least what Rhule has done at a third of the price for his salary and his assistants.
