Congrats to the team on the much needed win.

But It's really sad when we celebrate a win over a bad Illinois team like this (like we had beat a ranked opponent like #3 UofL in 2006). How far this program has fallen... How far we still have to go...

Really? This thread?

Sorry. It's just what I thought when I saw the celebration. Just being honest. It's disheartening to see how far we've fallen since 2012. Kudos to the team for getting a much needed conference win. Hopefully it's one of many more in the future on our journey to the top of the B1G.

I think they are all a bit happy. It's been 727 days since our last B1G win

Yeah, and there are some who say beating Illinois would mean pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things. Based on this video, the players, the coaches, and everyone in that locker room seem to differ in that opinion. GREAT ROAD WIN FOR RUTGERS!!!

p.s. Mrs. Screw, were you in the locker room?

So many on this board are insufferable.

Have you all ever been a part of a team/company/other that needs confidence?

I'm very happy for these kids.

I get what Blitz is saying and would wager many people reading this thread thought.. repeat THOUGHT.. the same thing. But you do not say it.

And as others said..

These young men won a game.. deserve to celebrate and when you add to it how emotional game football is.. spirit and hope are something you want on your side. Yo never do anything to sap spirit when shown like this. You want them to become addicted to celebrating victories.

I think you're confusing "fallen" with "lost momentum". We never reached a great football team. If you can't maintain top 25 status year in and year out you aren't a good football team. We didn't do that. We had some okay runs, but we were in the weakest power 6 football conference in the country at the time and still couldn't win. Bowl games are nice but we all know we were in the crappy pity bowls. We couldn't even win the league outright once under Schiano. We had a good run but we never were "at the top"

It's obvious who on this board participated in athletics at a high level versus those who spent their youth jerking off to Brady Bunch re-runs

I thought it but I didn't post it. Then I thought about it again. These kids work extremely hard and have been getting bullied for over a year. Let them enjoy their victory. I played on a high school team that went 2-8 so I know what it's like. Go RU.

Schiano lost to Illinois away. Bad coach.

Shut up.

So happy for the guys. They deserve to celebrate. They hear nothing all the time but how terrible they are.

You guys gotta be kidding. This was a huge win. I didn't even think we'd be able to compete, let alone win it convincingly. The guys hugely overachieved today.

Also

"How pathetic they are showing emotion"

These young guys leave their blood, sweat, and tears out on the field for RU every time they put on the pads...and yes, as was unfortunately shown with EL, they even risk their health. -So I say enjoy the hell outta the "W", Knights, because you not only earned your celebration...you DESERVE it!

And personally, I don't look at the sheer, unbridled joy the team's showing over beating Illinois as an indication of how far we've fallen. I view at it as the 1st step on the road towards what we want this program to be.

These kids work physically harder in the last 3 months than you probably ever did in a 3 month period in your life. They just won a Big 10 game on the road. Let them dance and shout, you tool.

you gotta start somewhere when rebuilding. How about here?

Slight underdogs on the road.. I'll take anything that gives them some confidence and gives them energy.

League win on the road in a season where not a lot has gone right. They have every right to enjoy it and be excited about it.

Way to go, boys. Make this a turning point of the season.

Hey listen I've been pretty vocal that I am not a fan of Ash. But this is totally ok in my book. In fact I can argue that this is good strategy by Ash, make them have the greatest time of their lives. You like that guys? You want more? Beat Purdue and see what happens in front of your home crowd.
