A couple of notes on these...below are the 65th through 128th largest schools from the 2018-2019 football enrollment chart on the IHSA website. Bradley gets absolutely hammered by travel. Most of these districts could get flipped around any number of ways.

I will say, however, that the southeast district seems to be pretty clear cut. Maybe they swap TF South in favor of Argo, but that should be a pretty good sense of who Rita and MC will be playing. Here it goes:

Downstate:
Normal Comm

Colinsville
Granite City

This was based totally off of the IHSA enrollment list. I believe Naz asked to move up to 7A. If they do that again, Marmion would fall to 6A. Fenwick is in the middle of the pack enrollment wise. Rita is the 19th smallest of 64. It would take a considerable drop in enrollment for either to move classes.

Alright, alright I’ll do it.....

Good sir, here is where you are lacking in information:

The multiplier rule for private schools has changed and now if you have not won 3 or more playoff games over the previous 2 seasons you no longer have ANY multiplier. As such schools you referenced (fenwick, st Rita, carmel) will no longer be 7a. I’m not certain on where carmel falls but Fenwick and st Rita will be in 5a starting next season.

Regarding Nazareth... they didn’t request to play up. There is a rule called the success factor just for highly successful private schools whereby if you go to the state title game (even if you lose it) a certain number of times over a certain number of years you are automatically bumped higher. Naz was bumped to 6a last year due to this rule and since they returned to the title game last year they were bumped to 7a this year. No choice about it... it’s a punishment to “level the playing field.” That rule has now also adapted from a 4 year window to two years. I won’t get too deep into the weeds on how it works right now.

If there was a 9A Naz, Loyola, MC and a few others would get bumped to it if it was up to the IHSA

Is Naz getting bump to 8A for next year?

No.. even under the most recent iteration of the rule they were going to guarantee you stay in a class for at least 2 seasons and the rule was just changed to a 2 year cycle like the multiplier rule and the new 2 year cycle begins next year so I “BELIEVE” they would have to go to the 2019 and 2020 title game to be bumped to 8a in 2021 assuming the rule isn’t further massaged in the meantime. But maybe they will find a way to interpret that they should go 8a in 2020 if they go to state in 2019 but not 8a in 2019 for sure.
