Almost every publication I have seen had us at the 7 seed line. We would meet the 2 seed in the second round. Of the potential 2 seeds who would you rather get? UConn, Iowa State, Purdue, Vandy, Houston, or Michigan State?

if I had my pick it would be Purdue because we already proved we at least matchup with them somewhat decently, and then Vandy if they end up getting one. I doubt we can draw Vandy before the S16 though so idk how that would go. Michigan State already ate our lunch, and I definitely don’t want play UConn yet again in March. I can’t see us beating Houston or Iowa State but I’d take my chance against the Cyclones even though I’d really like to have their coach in the future.

Thoughts?

St. Johns would have to be a 2 Seed for that hypothetical matchup to be on the table and all predictions have them well short of that.
Probably true. Whoever we play, they'll try to make sure it's an uncomforable matchup for us.

ISU, Purdue, or UConn.

This isn’t a vintage UConn team.
Not that their team is the best, but we have been screwed against them so much that I don’t wanna see than again. They are definitely better than us though.

Michigan St. is my preferred matchup. I like the Cats to win that one.
They whooped us pretty easy first time. We definitely are way better now but idk. You never know with this team. Will Garrsion get 17/10 again or will he be terrible. Will Oweh and Aberdeen be hot and efficient. Will we rebound? Who knows. Will Chandler be passive or aggressive and knock down shots?

Yep. Perfect summary of why we could just go ahead and lose the first game. Team is truly unpredictable.

Vanderbilt beat us by a thousand the first game.
The second game we handled them impressively.

Thus the Unpredictables.

I know nothing about ISU but n st Louis that's not too awful. I guess. Who knows.
Didn’t know who the guy was until yesterday but the have a 6’8” forward that’s one of if not the best 3 point shooters in the country. Averages almost 8 attempts per game and making 50%.

If a 7, that suggests we are somewhere between #25 and #28 in the country. I'm not sure we're in the top 30 teams, but so be it.

If wins matter more than losses, I get you !!
True that, I guess those teams have some ugly losses too, our SOS and really 0 “bad” losses prop us up. Obviously they don’t account for the absolute beat downs like we had against Gonzaga. On paper it’s considered a good loss and nothing more.

Is everyone getting excited!!!!!! Its SS. Time to gather around and cheer on our potential hard fought 7 seed. Win one game and we're in the finals of round 1.

Iowa State would kick our butts. I don't see us beating them if that's the matchup.
I just hope we win the first game.

Thanks for the info. I don't pay attention to basketball outside of UK anymore. Apathy and personal loss apathy have broken me. As much as I hate to admit this chatting with you all is a big portion of my social life at present lol but appreciate all of you.

And a lot of that is on the players. They have some accountability when it comes to being mentally prepared to play.
But, this is a common trait with Pope, so he needs to figure out how to get his teams to have a killer instinct.
As much as I like Oweh, he doesn't have a refuse-to-lose mentality and he’s our leader.

I think Oweh’s struggles are understandable. He’s asked to do a lot and guards with almost 50% shooting from the field on that kind of volume are rare. If there’s anyone on the team who has justification for fatigue, it’s Aberdeen and Oweh given what they are tasked with.

Nice to talk about but we can’t beat any of the 2’s.
We‘ll try but just not there talent-wise.
My main concern now is what will we look like at the end of April.

No doubt. I'm an Oweh fan, but he’s a silent leader, soft spoken. I think getting an MKG would fix a lot of the roller coaster type performances.

Michigan State would be my choice. Revenge is a strong motivator. We don't want any part of Iowa State like Matt Jones wants. I live 1 hour from Iowa State and watched 80% of their games. Their half court defense would destroy us.
