Isn't that forecast for early next week? 120 hours = 5 days, so ~ Monday/Tuesday landfall? Or am I misunderstanding the numbers along the tracks?
18z gfs bringing it to Nola Sunday as a category 3. Now, this is nowhere near gospel. A Hugh Freeze speech on marriage fidelity is probably closer to the gospel than this, but it is a hint that the central gulf coast does not need to ignore this storm.
All a guess until it gets consolidated into a storm instead of an open wave. Will it be closer to Cuba? will it hit the Yucatan?
Does 95L in the pacific cause it to not get stronger?
Will know a lot more by Saturday morning.

Hard to say where it's gonna go. If this one misses you the models already showing another popping up a week or so after and moving much slower which lends itself to a stronger storm. Multiple storms coming through the equatorial zone behind these two. Looks like a busy Sept and Oct. Maybe longer.

And of course, it's on track to head right up to Mississippi with the whole state on the right side of it. And of course, predicted to strengthen significantly and will be over open water the whole time.

We have friends in Lake Charles so we've kept up with that area. It's been so bad there that many have thrown their hands up and left .
I have friends in Moss Bluff. That area got absolutely devastated last year. They could use a break.

Man, if it trends a little more to the right, that's bad news for Nola. It's going to veer to the left when it hits the gulf because of dynamics to the north.
I believe I read the Lake Charles MSA has lost something like 10% of it's population in the last 2 years. Feel for folks from that area.

Please go right. When they go to Louisiana or East Texas they destroy a lot of marshland with the salt water. We get 100+ weather being on the left side of the storm. I can deal with the heat but we are losing enough marshland every year already.
So you'd rather one of Mississippi's few cool areas get blasted, in the name of saving some marshland? Interesting take.
Haven't checked the metro, but the city of Lake Charles itself gained quite a few people and the census number was well above the latest estimate (estimate 78K, actual count just under 85K).
Be ready for federal and state gas tax increases before the end of the year. It'll be 5 bucks a gallon by next summer.
Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter called the numbers “bittersweet” and noted the other weather disasters that followed this year that further set back rebuilding, including a brutal winter storm in February and flooding in May.
“The number itself shows the growth and shows that Lake Charles was a thriving and successful city before the events of 2020 and early 2021,” he said. “We just had the rug pulled out from under us with these natural disasters. And it would be one thing if it was just one hurricane, but it seems like every time we get our head above water, Mother Nature pushes us back down.”

That’s fine. Send it our way. Florida has a bill that will pay less for roof damage if it is older than 10
years old that is set to take place next year and mine is 15 now. It was only 14 when Sally hit so with little damage we couldn’t claim it. I’ve been putting off fixing a fence gate too so I can throw that in as well.
State legislatures usually take the cowardly approach and raise fuel taxes when oil/gas is very low, so that consumers don’t realize it. Then when oil goes back up, they blame oil companies for gouging.
Everything will be bearable if it doesn't explode into a strong Cat 3 or bigger.
The eastern side of the storm is the strongest...
