Storm surge pushes the water in and puts a lot of pressure on the north shore. Any hurricane that hits at an angle like that just to the west of New Orleans is not good.

Yeah but that track has the eye 70+ miles west of New Orleans, so I don't see any significant storm surge threat to New Orleans if that track holds. If Gustav is a close comparison, then it should be noted Gustav did little damage to New Orleans

The angle is going to bring the NE quadrant right over your arrows not on the center.

Haven't checked the metro, but the city of Lake Charles itself gained quite a few people and the census number was well above the latest estimate (estimate 78K, actual count just under 85K).

dude regardless of what you say...the people there have been devastated..there are plenty of blue tarps still up.....throw in that Hurricane Biden further exasperated the situation by killing the Keystone pipeline....(that's where the oil was being transported to be refined ) that accounted for approximately 4200 jobs....

No, and what's that supposed to mean? I looked the statistics up on QuickFacts on census.gov. So they're correct and quantitative, at least at the time of the census count. Do you propose I'm supposed to know anything about a town 500 miles away? I know they had two devastating hurricanes last year, but beyond that I have absolutely no knowledge of Lake Charles.

Dude, I'm perfectly aware the city has experienced two devastating hurricanes. Don't know about the Keystone effects on the town, but I do know it's adversely affected a lot of people across the middle part of the country. Regardless - I was just reporting the results of the census that anyone can find. Numbers don't tell the full story for certain, but they are what's published.

Any of those tracks is bad for New Orleans - east side, and all the projected paths are close together so there must be pretty high confidence. Depending on the size of the storm, it can also have some pretty bad effects on coastal Mississippi. An hour or so ago a message from the Weather Channel indicated that it's expected to be a major storm, which I believe is Cat 3 or higher.

Bearable? 17 you. You don’t live down here. Anything stronger than a TS will put people out of homes, power, and potentially be deadly. Zeta was recently upgraded to a 3, so weak enough that it was thought to be a 2 for a long time. Zeta was a bad, bad storm.

Doesn’t surprise me at all that zeta was a 3, it was really bad. We still have some damage from it waiting to get fixed. This one looks to be bad, tomorrow is probably going to be pretty crazy around here.

A lot of the intensity tracks I've seen show only two of those models hitting a cat 3 and that's with a further west trec to west of Morgan city.

I had to saw and move probably half a doves trees with the tractor off the road we live off. Had a good days worth of work on our property with damage. Had shingles in my yard that weren’t mine and I don’t exactly have neighbors. I was one of the lucky ones. I’m not so much worried about the wind given the track, but the flooding could be bad for us considering this summer has had flooding in areas that don’t normally get it

If this storm slows as much as some models show in the northern gulf a lot of water is going to stack up in the NOLA area. Could be a very big problem down there.

I’m worried about both. There are still houses all over Pcola that are finally getting their roofs fixed, I can imagine it is way worse in South LA. Wind + Rain + Blue tarps = a bad situation.

I always love it when I’m home and my Mom will get mad if she missed local on the 8’s or she asks to change the channel real quick to catch it. I tell her I have local whenever the hell you want on my phone it’s On Demand if she needs it.

There's another weather channel called Weather Nation that still has weather 24/7 with no documentaries. I don't watch it much but I've not heard them talk much, if any, about climate change.
