Poythress Effect

We're really good right now. Historically good. But how good would we be WITH Poythress. I mean, I know he's out for the year, but if he wasn't, how much better would we be?

We're 18-0 now. If we still had Poythress, would our record possibly be 23-0, 29-0, 47-0, 121-0? As good as we are, we're missing his strong presence inside.

I think if Poythress was healthy, and Wiltjer hadn't transferred, and Enes Kanter weren't ineligible, we'd probably win a minimum of 4 national championships this year.

Sorry OP, unless there's been a major rule change you can only win one national championship a year.

Incorrect, I believe Duke's next win will count as a championship for K1K.

I have to admit this thread was a pleasant surprise for me. Much, much better material than I ever expected when I clicked the thread title.

Great work, OP.

We certainly miss his energy and special defense that ignites team.

It's strange that since he went out we have shot great from 3 every game since. I know it is just coincidence, but our offense overall has been much more efficient post-Poythress. D is still more than adequate to do what we need to do.

What if Poythress...? What if Wiltjer...??

But don't forget too, that Ryan Harrow's putting up some really eye-popping numbers at Georgia State... 20.4 ppg, 4.5 apg, 2.0 rpg.

I think we can all agree that Harrison and Ulis could use some more competition at practice, especially whichever future pro PG we're most dissatisfied with at any given moment.

I mean, could you imagine Harrow coming off the bench with Wooden candidate Wiltjer as our 14th and 15th men, behind a healthy (and maybe possibly cyborg) Poythress, Enes Kanter, and the rest of the gang?

What could've been?

We'd be averaging 131.7 ppg (UK's current 75.5 ppg + Harrow's 20.4 ppg + Wiltjer's 16.3 ppg + Kanter's 14 ppg + Poythress 5.5 ppg), plus still be holding most opponents under 50 ppg. We'd be winning by 80+ ppg most nights.

Ugh. This season's been such a struggle.
