Horrible take; Anthony Davis couldn't shoot well either as a freshman. Neither did Embid. Kawhi Leonard shot 25% from three for his entire college career. Any team in the nation would kill for Flagg to be on their team
This wasn't a take. I was just reporting his shooting stats.
And hoping for the worst luck possible for Duke because of it. Lol!

You are wrong. Davis was not proclaimed “best in the nation” until after (or late in the) season after he had proved it. And his accolades came from his defense and rebounding. Embiid and Leonard were never claimed to be the best in college.
So your take is horrible.
Flagg is being sold to us as the best in the country, “a 3 level scorer”, but he’s not! He’s very good, maybe one of the best. Definitely not a 3 level scorer yet.

Flagg is suffering from the same thing that the last few Duke players have since Scheyer and his staff have taken over. Guys just aren't developing and improving on their deficiencies. Has any player came in and made drastic improvements under that staff? I can't think of a single one. In fact most like Filipowski, Lively, Whitehead, Proctor, Stewart, TJ Power, and Ngongba, who were all top 25 recruits were or still are underwhelming whether at Duke or at a new school if they transferred. That staff just can't develop talent IMO.

For those that CANNOT figure out what some of us are trying to say.

#1 Is Flagg a good college freshman player?
ANSWER: Yes

#2 Is Flagg a rare talented freshman?
ANSWER: No. Just a good freshman.

#3 Is Flagg worth all the hype & talk? Is he that kind of freshman?
ANSWER: Absolutely not!!! At Duke there are freshman that we're clearly better in the last 10 years. In no particular order:
1. Banchero
2. Tatum
3. Zion
4. RJ Barrett
5. Filipowski (so far)

**None of those guys received the level of hype that Flagg has received over the summer & even now. It's just stupid comical & obvious that it's an agenda

I’ll admit that …except for the outside shooting …I’ve been impressed by Flagg. He’s a far better defensive player than I realized, extremely active and disruptive. As a defender, ballhandler and mid-range player, he’s the real deal.

But he does have a glaring weakness. That crappy three-point shooting percentage ain’t gonna cut it at any level.

If I'm playing Duke I'm playing zone. I'm taking away his ability to drive the ball. I want him to shoot.
Duke don't have a true point guard so I want them to have to pass the ball around to score.
But I wouldn't play duke man to man at all.
I would do like Pope and switch from man to zone during the same possession.
I'd also full court pressure duke the whole game because that lack of point guard and switch into that zone as soon as they pass half court and then switch into man after about 10 seconds.

I don't know how you going to be the number one pick when you shot 8 for 36 from the 3-point line so far.
That's 22%.
He can't buy a three.
O-3 tonight. Scored a big 6 points.
Fading dreams dukie.

Starting to look like Ben Simmons little brother, Pooper. Try harder.

That's all I got. I feel better knowing you're going to get the dookies beat.!!
Praise Be Pooper praise Be
Was having that same discussion last week about him. I know he's supposed to be the next phenom etc and my nephew who coached against him said he's the real deal and all. He's good for sure but something is missing for me to see him in such a elite light and I think its his inability to be a knock down shooter so far. With the rest of his game if he finds that he will be a handfull.

Flagg is a good player, with a ton of potential. I think his greatest limitation right now is his strength and conditioning. For his size, he doesn't seem to have the appropriate strength, and he definitely doesn't have proper conditioning right now. Always looks like he's out if gas early. He looks like an elite HS player that was able to coast a lot. He's good, but I wouldn't wager a lot on him being an elite pro just yet.

To me he looks like a legit top 5 freshman. The no1 incoming player some years. But I don’t see the “generational talent “ narrative being pushed by the media.

Someday, I think Pope will be sprinkling in one or two guys like that with our roster. I can only imagine what Flagg would do on the exact team we have right now. As much crap as the kid gets from us, if he was on our team he truly would be unstoppable. I don’t think Duke has a great supporting cast and their system is “Cooper go iso”

Jay Williams said Duke and Flagg will be front and center all season because he is the projected number one pick.

I’m curious to see if it will be the same scenario next season for BYU and Dybantsa.

For obvious reasons, I am skeptical.

Doubtful it would be the same. Flagg (top NBA prospect) combined with Duke (blueblood and near-top CBB brand). BYU brand isn’t as strong yet

But Williams acted like it wasn’t a Duke thing, it was because Flagg was special.

I remember the Zion hype, but really can’t think of many non-Duke guys being hyped this much.

I’m sure Wall and AD were probably hyped like this, but I don’t remember it being this blatant.

CBB is in a different place now. They are having to promote what they think they can. If we had Cooper Flagg while we are hot, it’d be a big deal too. I do personally think the kid is very slightly overrated personally, but I wish we had him in Popes system—-I think he’d be unguardable

Didn’t he say “generational talent “ ? Cause there’s a projected number 1 pick every year . And from all accounts Dybantsa is the better player. But I can pretty much guarantee that next years espn narrative will be “the Boozer twins” .
