So when do we get a predictable measure of where it will hit? It has the potential to still completely miss Florida right?

I know the message wears down, but I am in FL and looking at 125-150 mhp winds at my home on Sat-Sun-Mon. If the path as of now holds true, I will cross Alligator Alley to Naples (family is there) and then north to escape. Send us your prayers as well... IRMA PATH

Good luck and wish you and your family the best.

Miss is relative with a 400-mile wide storm. As of now, the storm is supposed to pass very close to the east coast starting at Maimi, skirt up the coast and eventually impact GA, SC or NC.

Miss is relative but so is "supposed to."

They don't know, it's a prediction. But it's looking like it will hit. Could also go further west and hit the panhandle though that is a lesser predicted path.

I have my whole family In Florida and I'm in Alabama so keeping a close eye on this one.

Good thoughts your way, hoping for the same here in Charleston, SC and everyone else in FL/GA/SC.

Odds are very low it completely misses FL at this point, 36 hours they are pretty good. The entire southeast coast is going insane right now, most probably unneeded but better safe than sorry. I'm in charleston, sc, but we have a couple days to assess whether to leave or not. I am already assuming they order evacuations tomorrow, though.

My 90+ year old Grandfather lives by himself just outside of Tampa. Worried sick about him, although he acts like he's 50 not 92. Seems like the recent models all have it hugging the east coast...

Don't worry, Rush Limbaugh wants you to know this is all made up propaganda!

No but seriously, be safe! I would just go and assume the worst. If it misses so be it, but if it doesn't you don't wanna be around. This thing looks like a MONSTER

Fortunately right now, there doesn't appear to be a lot of rain in the storm but obviously worried about surge and whatnot. Hoping the Keys are okay so I have something to go back to and isnt just a month of rebuilding.

I see you're repeating this complete nonsense and lie in another thread after being thoroughly destroyed in the political thread and issuing no response.

Don't know what you are talking about, but if it involved global warming, and the predicted effects, e.g., much more severe storms, I can see why no one responds in the political discussion board, it is pretty clear that most everyone's minds on that board are pretty well made up, it is just an anti Al Gore/leftists/libtard echo chamber on that subject . . . . so what is the point of arguing?

I'm taking about what I quoted.

I'm gonna pray my *** off, so everyone should be fine.

The typical dude who makes comments like this is this guy - not a guy in his late 30's. Sad!

You would be lucky with only a month. My coworker stayed through Andrew and took shelter at the federal prison his dad worked for. They were without power for 8 months following that. Hope it's not as bad but JFC is that insane to think about.

Will, just throwing it out there but if your grandpa is all alone and Irma made it's way up the west coast, I could probably get a family member in Tampa to check on him. If he's down near St Pete, which pretty much sits below sea level, that could get dicey but some parts of Tampa should be pretty safe by default in comparison.

So he can tell eveybody about it. Stay there, ride out the storm, then leave as soon as you can after the damage is done. Plus, my plan gives him a few days to loot.

I'm making a wish list. BGE, couple TV's, 4K receiver, some power tools and cash/jewelry.

The European model which is considered the most accurate and probable has it pummeling Eastern Florida then weakening into GEorgia.

I think this is going to be the worst American natural disaster possibly of our lifetimes.

Sure, but if this thing turns early sparing FL its gonna make a Bee line for me and the Carolinas.

Best case scenario at this point is probably worst case scenario for me.

I've been praying for Houston, added anything in the way of the never ending fires out West, now the Caribbean Islands, Cuba, Florida (Wife has family) and friends in Tampa up the eastern Atlantic Coast to South Carolina and where ever! May God be with our Country!

Good luck and safe travels @Willy4UK

I'm in Sarasota currently helping box up our office. I'm wrapping up the outside of my place like a Dexter hit, loaded with supplies and am doing everything I can to help my elderly neighbors surrounding me who can't/won't leave. I've never not looked forward to a weekend this much.
