Welp, i reserved the flight and then they sent me an email telling me that it was sold out. Effing c***suckers.

So i got a rental car. Hopefully it won't take 20 hours to get there.

Maybe i should wait this effer off. Might do some lootin' down here.

The typical dude who makes comments like this is this guy - not a guy in his late 30's. Sad!

That's not fair Wayne. If I know PTI as well as I think I do, then I know he has his porch light on as well. Can't discount that.

Get the car while you can. I went to Orlando for a conference in 2004 just after Charley hit. Ended up getting the last rental car in the place because all of FEMA came there and needed rental cars. Got a nice upgrade to a Caddy. Traffic sucked. Lights didn't work. Restaurants and grocery stores were all closed. Luckily, my hotel had power (lots of power co. guys there).

So, if nothing else, get that car. Buy the loss damage waiver insurance. Stick around and loot for a few days, then use that car to bring all the precious loot north to be unloaded for cash.

Edit: was meant to be a reply to Willy.

Here is the latest GFS model that was run about 30 minutes ago. It kicked it a little west and more straight up the gut of Florida instead of skirting the east coast. This is hour 66:

We have it bad here in Houston from Harvey but what's headed towards south Florida will be much worse in a different face of ferocity. I sure hope Floridians will help each other through the aftermath that will be. Prayers and positive thoughts for all caught in this storm.

Latest GFS model(30 minutes old) is almost the same as the last one I posted:

Looks like it drops to 899mb at landfall. Andrew was 922. The lower the more intense unfortunately.

Set to go right over my 92 year old grandfather's place. He lives alone, it's too late to leave.

Awful helpless feeling. The last one chief posted doesn't look as bad for tampa, but god damn.

I live in Broward County and considered evacuating to Naples or Tampa yesterday. Now glad we didn't. Stay safe in SWFL. Could be devastating.

It's times like this that make you wonder why you live in SoFla. On the other hand, this area is more prepared for hurricanes than anywhere in the world (construction-wise, attitude-wise).

Gotcha. We're about 10 miles from there and most people seem to be staying. All the hotels are booked with Miami evacs. I think by the time it gets to Jax only those on the intercoastal to beach will have to leave.
Sister staying put. One friend under mandatory evacuation and is leaving. The other is not.

The recent projection, if it stays, makes Jax one of the better spots to be in FL.

Then again, I don't think any of these ******** know what this beast will do.

Don't mean to seem heartless, but I've wondered that myself. The place has a history of frequent devastating hurricanes, so it's not realistic to expect anything different. Also, why in the hell are large cities built in or around swamps prone to major flooding? It's a disaster waiting to happen.

I wish you guys the best and hope you have good insurance if needed.

Riding this ***** out. Heading over to bro in law house right after the game tomorrow. He's shuttered up over there with a generator. I've been through Charley and Wilma but this one has me sketched. Best case now is that it possibly could go wide west a little more. Sunday will be the day. Not looking good.

Thanks for the well wishes. I lived here for Wilma but not Andrew. And Andrew affected only South Dade Co. My point is there has never been a really bad hurricane where I live (Ft. Lauderdale area), at least not in "modern" times. On the other hand, I remember a particularly bad tornado (1974) growing up in Louisville. There are natural disasters everywhrte. One thing that is particularly bad about a hurricane, though, is the days of buildup and stress. It wears on you.
