There is some very good news that came out this evening regarding the situation with the tornadoes. The candle factory in Mayfield had a spokesperson announce that they've actually now located 90 of the workers. They are alive and okay. It turns out, there was a storm shelter within the factory and most of the people went into the shelter. When the tornado passed, they came out and naturally did what most people would in that situation...they bugged out to check on their families, relatives and homes. It took time to track down their whereabouts. So the updated numbers reflect there are 8 people dead at the candle factory and 8 people still missing. The spokesperson was hopeful that those 8 still listed as missing will also turn up safe.
Now, that still means there are probably going to be 50 or more people dead in the state when everything gets sorted out. And that is still a terrible tragedy. But it does at least appear now that there will be 60-70 fewer deaths than we all originally feared, based on the early numbers that suggested most of the workers at that factory were probably buried in the ruins. We should all take heart in this fantastic news that the loss of life at the candle factory is apparently far less than previously feared.
