Pre Game Traffic Flow Was Still Awful

Arrived on Montgomery Street at 9:20. Got to Lot 11 at 10:45. There was no one directing traffic at Stone Blvd & BlackJack Road as promised.

It is absolutley ridiculous that we can't figure out that putting a guard at this intersection will help pre game traffic flow.

Way to drop the ball Bobby T and gameday management.

another Charlie Foxtrot out there. Hey, Starkville/MSU Police - there's tens of thousands of extra people in town all heading in the same direction - how about killing some traffic lights? Directing traffic manually? A plan - anything?? Ridiculous.

Meanwhile, getting out of town, as I hit 45 Alternate from 82, and lo and behold, MHP is there directing traffic. What a novel concept.

Those of us who have Bulldog Club parking passes did not encounter the traffic today that we had to deal with before and after the Jackson State game. It was smooth sailing past The Hump to Lot 18 next to the stadium--made it without stopping one time as there was no traffic. This was due to the fact that they wisely prohibited cars which did not have parking passes from entering that area. At the Jackson State game it took me 30 minutes to drive from The Hump to Lot 18. That was a huge improvement. Also, there were no lines entering the stadium.

But they still need to think about having some traffic direction at those 2 quick lights on 45. I went through there at about the same amount of time before the game as I did the JSU game. I think the Prairie Arts festival was the main culprit then.

However, it is pretty damn frustrating to get to Starkville at 9:45 and not get to tailgate until 10:45.

Pissed me off. Then he honked at people crossing the highway against the light. Get your fat lazy *** out of your car and direct traffic if you don't want people crossing the highway, dickhead.

that have spots on the north side of the stadium haven't had much trouble. The south side of the stadium, however, is one giant cluster. We left the S Montgomery at 9:45 and arrived at Lot 7 at 11:50. Greg can say that people need to arrive early all he wants, but there is no game on earth that should require a fan to arrive three hours early in order to make kickoff.

There are a few things that I'd suggest, but I honestly think if they'd just properly direct traffic at the Blackjack/Stone Blvd intersection, 75% of the problems would be fixed. It really shouldn't take two games of this crap to figure that out.

After I passed the Veranda it still took an hour plus to get parked. I'm hoping for no more 11:21am games. Those are a killer for arriving early. With the way the team is playing now, I don't mind arriving several hours early for a game, but I can't do it for the 11:21s. I don't get along with mornings.

Now, you can say that we should come in from the north, and I probably will next time, but what sense does it make for people with lots on the south end to come in through campus on the north end? None whatsoever. I can't tell you how many times I've used the same route in the past and It's never taken me this long. I don't know if it is the lack of cops or if MSU hired new people to handle the parking lots or what, but it is terrible. When you start heading to campus before 10 and you get to the football game after LSU scores their first TD, you've got problems. Blackjack and Stone is horrible. I didn't see a single cop until I was leaving on Lee and they were directed people at the intersection with Barr. It was frustrating and inexcusable, particularly when you promise things and then don't deliver.

I arrived in lot 11 at 1045 as well. I think one HUGE problem is there are so many people paying for parking which backs up traffic. They enter a lot, fumble around for $12 block traffic all the while, then the next person pulls up and same story. They should not let traffic progress south towards the Vet school. Coming off Blackjack it should be entrance only all the way to the red light.

The bad thing is just getting to the damn lot. Lot 11 always has plenty of spaces but you have people not knowing what the hell they are doing.

I left Byram at 4:30 in the morning, got to campus at 7:10 with no problems. Remember, for a 11:20 kickoff, everything will be clogged up pretty early. Also, if you had these problems the last time you came to campus you have to assume nothing has improved...that way, if it IS improved then everything is just fine.

Not sure of your family status but getting 3 children (and one of those is a one year old) to the game is a little difficult sometimes. I live five miles from the stadium and left at 915. You would think it would not take 1.5 hours to get to a parking lot.

Why does Starkville hate working with and helping MSU so much? I've never understood it. If MSU wasn't there, Starkville would be a wide spot in the road.

They are working there because McDonalds gave them the day off. My lot was being re-routed due to the rain but there was no sign or anything to let anyone know, just 1 girl sitting in a folding chair waiting on everyone to drive up to her and ask where to go. You can imagine having 50 cars in front of you, all of them having to stop, roll down window, wait on her to get up from her chair, then get back into traffic to go to another lot. God forbid these idiot parking people show any effort and maybe stand up and show some direction. When you hire fools to work this kind of stuff, this is what you get. It's pretty embarrasing when you can't handle a crowd of 55,000 when your campus covers as much territory in acreage as anyone else in our conference.

I got around the town of Athens and onto and around UGA's campus a whole lot easier than I've gotten onto and around MSU's campus the past two home games. I've never had a problem before this year. It's ridiculous and it isn't our fault. My group came earlier than last time and got to the game later than last time. The fault lies solely with the gameday management, or lack thereof.
