I don't think y'all will like what I came up with, but when you do the whole league, it isn't difficult to see a scenario in which we get Alabama and Ole Miss gets Vanderbilt.

What changes would you make? You have to consider the knock-on effects of moving one matchup.

I think my weakest prediction is Missouri playing both Texas schools every year. But if I try to fix it and screws everything else up.

ETA: I found a way to not have Missouri play both Texas schools every year. Oklahoma and Ole Miss would play ever year, which doesn't feel natural, but it makes everything else work.

Compared to my first pass, I like that the former Big XII schools aren't just playing each other. There's some cross-pollination (LSU/A&M, for example).

Oh, interesting. I was not thinking pods. I was thinking three hand picked permanent opponents for each team. Have pods been announced? Or reported according to sources?

We’ll get Mississippi, Arkansas & Texas A&M. Bama gets LSU instead of us. Mississippi gets MSU. LSU & Arkansas.

I've read that they have divided the top and bottom programs into 2 tiers. Team will play 2 from their own tier and 1 from the other to get the 3. Question becomes who are the top 8 and what criteria used? First stab is:
Texas
A&M
OK
LSU
Alabama
Georgia
And 2 of these next 4
Florida, Tenn, Aub, Ole Miss

Would actually be good if OM is 8th and our other 2 would be tier 2.

One thing to remember.....the way this plan works, they COULD change up the permanent opponents every four years. I'm sure the more historical matchups will always remain, but the filler ones could switch around periodically.

They won’t change permanent opponents. At least not until they expand again when ACC grant of rights is close to expiration.

I think you are off. I did this a while back. Some changes I see.

- We will get Bama, Kentucky and Ole Miss;
- Vandy gets Georgia, Tennessee and Ole Miss;

I think you need to balance out the haves and have nots playing each other. But I could be dead wrong, no idea what the SEC will do. Probably some whacked out shlt.

Why wouldn't they? People care if Alabama and Tennessee play. They don't care if Mississippi State and Kentucky play. The former can be kept, the latter can be played with.

Because it’s easier to just keep the ones we have. After the first 4-year rotation, it will be 2030 & that’s about when the ACC implosion & SEC/Big 10 raids will be heating up anyway.

I’m gonna say OM, Kentucky and bama. Hoping for A&M but I’m betting bama will lobby to get us and will probably get what they want

It won’t be Bama or Kentucky. They’re not gong to suddenly move 2 teams we don’t play in 24-25 to permanent status. If so they would have been in the 24-25 schedules.

I think we get get the confederates, Kentucky, and Auburn.

Auburn will want Bama and Georgia, and they will need to be thrown a bone. We should ask politely if we can be that bone.

Either OM, A&M, Ark or OM, A&M, UK.

ESPN is going to pony up a lot of money for a 9th SEC game, and they don’t want to see Bama or LSU playing State every year. So yall can stop worrying about it.

Geography doesn’t matter in college football anymore (see UCLA vs Rutgers).

That doesn’t matter at all. Literally has zero to do with it.

Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Texas A&M most likely.

Auburn and Arkansas are possibilities, but I suspect it's those 3 above.

If TV folks are in charge, which it’s established they are, I don’t see how Bama’s permanents aren’t AUB, TEN & LSU. Those games draw huge numbers.

I'm not sure why people are saying Arkansas. There is no tie there. They will get a couple of the old Big 12 schools (A&M, Texas, OK and Mizzou) and maybe LSU. All make more sense. As would Ole Miss for that matter. They played them regularly before Ark joining the conference.

It literally has everything to do with it. They knew what the 9-game rotation would look like 2 years ago. 24 & 25 are the 1st two years of that rotation with one rotating team dropped to get 8 games instead 9. Kind of the whole idea behind permanent opponents is that you play them every year & don’t skip 2 years.
