and that would be freaking hilarious
A former player tells me Hud didn't like it here and wouldn't come to State. Thinks he has a good thing going down at ULL and will only leave for a bigger school. I disagree with him, and Hud would be next in line for me after Mullen if I had the choice. This is just what I was told the other day.
and yes- Hud will leave ULL for a bigger school- like Miss State if offered...He'll take the Black Bear job if offered too- but they had better be careful making that move

I was told by a bear that "money is no object" and they will get a proven head coach. Huckleberry Hound, uh I mean Archie has spoken.

who they think Ole Miss will get. Of course someone else (another UM fan) chimed in:

Anyone one who plays in a major bowl game will be in the running, therefore, no decisions til after season is over.
Wow.

He only won 9 games twice and recruited most of our 1980 team.

And how did Joe Lee Dunn work out?

Heck, I'd love to take their coach and beat them with him. Can you imagine how hilarious it would be to take the "football school" in the states coach and have a coach there that really wants to be at "lowly" MSU? How ironic. There would be a Peyton Manning picked UT-esque meltdown. It might be worse than Kiffen ditching UT for USC.

And that's exactly what it would be like- Lane Kiffen going to USC from UT after one year. Say they hire Hud and he's there a year and Dan leaves after next year- Hud would be gone from there just like that. And then Archie, Shep, FedEx, William Faulkner, and Xenareb would be looking for another coach.

The rumor was that Maryland had all but hired Leach, but the administration couldn't pull the trigger.

I have wondered if the reason they couldn't pull the trigger is because ESPN made a phone call. I'm not a big black helicopters guy, but considering the way ESPN handled the Leach situation, I think it's plausible that they could be actively working to keep him out of a major conference.

I'm sure the lame duck staff will do an excellent job recruiting after the dead period is over.

he means any assistant coach in a major bowl game. Mullen coached in a major bowl game right after he was hired by MSU.
