McDuffie needs more pitches beyond the breaking balls. Going 7 innings as a starter is a different animal that requires a good fastball, fork ball, or change up.

DeCaro, Lynch, and Chewy. He did really well at the Cape this summer. I could easily see Walker being the third starter though if he works hard to develop another pitch in the fall. Definitely not as confident about who the third starter will be.

Lynch, DeCaro, TBD........

I really like McDuffie as a closer and like Lynch in that role too but clearly he showed out the last two starts....

He runs the fastball up to 95-96.. working on adding the changeup and a more 12-6 breaking ball this fall. And tbh I don’t think anyone has thrown a “fork” ball in 60 years. A splitter, maybe?

It appears Cam Seagraves is the forgotten player. There is a reason he was rated the #1 pitcher in NC coming out of HS. With a fastball that gets up to 98, I want to see how much better his control looks during fall practice. He averaged almost 13 K / 9 IP, and his BAA was better than both DeCaro and Haugh, but almost a walk per inning does not cut it.

I think people are really sleeping on McDuffie.

All the way until the bitter end, I would have chosen McDuffie on the mound over Lynch this past season in a big moment. Both of them were excellent in the clinching game against Oklahoma. Obviously Lynch was nails again against Arizona and McDuffie struggled some, but I think people are forgetting just how good McDuffie was all year.

I think it’s going to be DeCaro, Lynch and McDuffie in the weekend rotation and we need guys like Seagraves, Boaz, Olin Johnson and Chewy to solidify the pen.

Pretty sure he’s gonna be a starter.

Cam still needs to get stronger and throw more strikes. Bus stuff is electric when it’s working. I think he’s probably still out of the pen and in long relief this year.

Decaro and Lynch. I predict the 3rd starter being a revolving door for a little while. Would really like to get a lefty in that role and ideally use him on Saturday to split the righties. Boaz finally locking down that spot would be my hope. I just see Chewy as a set up or mid week guy. Still think you need McDuffie as your high leverage/closer guy. Does no good to have one of your weekend starters give you 6-7 good innings and lose. You have to win series and no Jake Knapp guaranteed wins to start every series next season.

I know people have said don’t take how a player does in summer ball to mean anything, so I hope that’s legitimately the case with Folger, because he struggled big time at the Cape. There was one game when he did have 5K, but that same game he had 7BB and gave up 5ER. Unfortunately, that was the typical game that he had all summer. Hopefully this is just a confidence thing, but it’s going to need to come back in spades this fall if he’s going to be a starter in the spring.

I'm hoping a completely healthy Boaz can make a huge leap this year, but he still will need to improve in 2 very important categories... BAA and BB. His BAA over 2 years is .280, and he averaged just under 5 BB / 9 IP.
