Nobody in P5 cancels this week. Lots of threats and chest beating. Too many players want to play. Too much money to be left on the table - even with limited capacities. Something significant happens. Concessions made to players with the blessing of the NCAA. Guarantees that conferences and programs can't get sued into non existence.
If the NCAA doesn't work with all parties, then fall is cancelled. Spring brings new life to college football with middle fingers to the NCAA. New league. New rules. Who knows what that looks like, but the NCAA will be pushed out for not making something work in the short term. The NCAA will react saying that if that's what programs want to do, then they can't be members in other sports - which will naturally be the end of the NCAA for P5 programs.
Smart money: NCAA allows members to sweeten the pot for football players somehow: insurance for extended periods beyond attendance and/or some kind of "hazard pay". Something that can rationalize getting players to waive current and future rights to sue without attorneys having a field day. If it all fails, heads should roll everywhere. I understand risk aversion by folks that have the money, but there are too many willing parties wanting to make something work out. Make it work out.
