My prognostications are this. 8-4, 9-3 if I'm generous. If we go 8-4 Our losses will be from Bama, LSU, Arkansas and the swing games being TamU, Auburn, or TN. 9-3 has us losing to Bama, LSU and Arkansas. Lock it down, final answer.

If we beat Auburn, we'll start 7-0, lose to Bama and LSU and the verdict is out on Arkansas...making us 9-3 or 10-2. If we lose to Auburn, we will start 5-2, lose to Tennessee, Bama, LSU, and aTm will scare me, making us 7-5.

I do think we finally get that monkey off our back with Auburn though....9-3.

I think we just did this last week, and it's out there.

However looking at the predictions that have been moved over, looks like the title line is missing...So..

I said 8-4, and 9-4 considering the Bowl.

8-4

8-4 is pretty reasonable. The play of our offensive line is going to dictate what kind of season we have. We're a couple injuries away from having a very sub-par oline. We have decent talent in the two deep, but most of them are inexperienced and not quite ready for full time roles. If they can give Russell a little bit of time in the pocket, we have the potential to have a lot of success throwing the football.

The three swing games Auburn, Tenn, and A&M, Tenn scares me the most just bc of their ability to throw the football. Bray is pretty damn good when he wants to be and theyve got two wide receivers who are future 1st round picks in Rogers and the other guy (forgot his name). I think we slip by Auburn and beat A&M's ***. We shall see.

I feel another 8-4 season with a bowl win. Auburn is the main game of the season and we HAVE to win that game to make our season successful!

8-4. Hopefully better, but until I see us beat the big boys it's hard to see much better than that.

I see us going 9-3 with losses to Bama, LSU, and one of Arkansas, UT, or TAMU. If we are going 9-3 we have to beat Auburn, or all potential season momentum will be gone.

Best case: 10-2, losses to the obvious.

Worst case: 6-6, winning all OOC, UK, and OM. If we lose to AU, this could easily happen.

I think 9-3.

I can't think of any other season that so much rides on. We have so much to prove. Go 9-3 and Mullen and State get national attention and "on the rise" or go 6-6 and be another "disappointment"

7-5. Win all 4 OOC games, KY, OM, and one out of AU, UT, A&M. I'm leaning toward UT.

9-3 winning all OOC games, and beating Auburn & A&M and of course the Bears too. People that pick us to go 6-6 MUST have thier head in the sand as far as the goings-on in this conference. TAMU is going to struggle this year guys, sorry. If (and I mean IF) the bears get a conference win it'll be against this team that not only has a new coach & offensive philosophy. But is also going to a VERY physically demanding conference. The "run & shoot" style offense is a VERY difficult offense to learn in 1 yr.Plus Auburn is going to find out why Chizik was 5-19 @ Iowa St.

8-4 for me with losses to TN, AL, AR, and LSU. The more....

I look at the schedule though, my old negative State fan starts coming out. A loss to Auburn could spell big trouble. The next week we play good old Troy, and that game is the one that really has me concerned. Starting out with a loss to Auburn and Troy could lead to a nightmare 4-8 season, and it would be just like State to do that. Everytime we have a chance to move up to the next tier, we fall flat on our face. Hopefuly Mullen can break that trend.

Negative Waves, let me put it to you like this without going apeshit over this Negative Nelly stuff. If we go 6-6, much less 4-8 (unless if Tyler gets hurt & is gone for the season) Mullen is not tge right coach & needs to take a walk. In a coaches 4th seasonhe can't say he's not coaching his recruits. He had time to build his depth throughout the roster and most importantly push his philosophy! 2 words for you & for others....CALM DOWN! Mullen in fact IS the right guy!

I'm predicting Mullen does break that trend......... From what I'm hearing coming out of practice, the players, the coaches, I'm going to be positive. I think Mullen feels good about the team as he seems to be keeping things much closer to the chest than usual.

I think we go 9-3. I think we'll have a surprise win(Bama or AR), but will drop a couple of games that we should win, like TN and Auburn.

Not to be a jerk but...

the little reply button on the bottom right of my post isn't put there to look pretty. Secondly, my opinion will have absolutely zero impact on how well State does on the football field. I like Mullen and think he is a great coach, but I've seen waaaay too many bounces go the wrong way for State in the past. Teams that were loaded with talent (2001) have a bad break or two and the season falls apart. What gives me hope about Mullen is that last year everything could have fallen apart, but the team got through a tough La Tech game and an awful UAB game with wins. In the past, State probably would've lost one or both of those games. However, the Troy game just concerns me. It's a classic trap game, and we have to go to their dump of a stadium. We'll still be hungover from the Auburn game, and they'll look at it like it's their Super Bowl. If the game was in Starkville, it would be over by halftime, but we'll probably keep them in it till the last minute.

I agree with this, but I am very confidant going into the Auburn game. It will be Auburn's second game in a new offense and a new defense with both having new coordinators. We are deeper than we have been since 1999. I think we win the Auburn game and agree we finish 9-3.

First, did u see Troy's record last year? And dude, i'm not new to the game either. I'm in my 30's & actually understand what's going on the field. I have been watching a State fan since Felker was HC. I know about our history, but just like what's going on in S.C, Boise St, Vandy etc..etc..it took a culture change of the fanbase & on field personel to go from where they were to where they are. I remember when S.C & Vandy were coaching graveyards. It took the RIGHT administration in the upper offices to hire the RIGHT coach. Then it took said coach to get a different breed of kids into the program & wash out the old attitude & negative energy inside. Then even when that team took the field & showed improvement, some older dumbass fan who DOESN'T understand it is a NEW day, new coach, new adminstration, new players, new energy to stop being so 17ing negative. "Negativity is the root of defeat!" Patton. Your name says all I need to know fella. At least the blackbears "BELIEVE" in thier team, even though sometimes blindly......but they believe. Maybe we need to learn from our brothers from up north that attitudes DO make a difference.

You're not related to Coach Orgeron are you?

I think you ripped your shirt off while posting that. Lay off the caffeine and Red Bull 57. You're taking this a little too seriously. All we're doing is posting predictions, and I gave a nightmare scenario. It's football, not life or death. I still think we're more likely to go 8-4. Again, the little reply button on the bottom right isn't there to look pretty.

Cotton Bowl

I think we beat Auburn, A&M and ARK, but lose to Tennessee, LSU, BAMA. We'll end 9-3, play in Jerry Jones' house, and feel pretty good about the season.

I say it has to be 9-3 or 10-2. Losses come from Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas. With the indefinite suspension of Da'Rick Rodgers at Tennessee today I'm not nearly as worried about that game. Lock down on Kendal Hunter coming off ACL surgery and we have that one wrapped up now. I dont see us losing to Arkansas again at home, as I think we lost in OT to a much better Arkansas team the last home meeting and we were not as good overall. As many have said this season all comes down to beating Auburn in week 2. With a W on the board there we ride the momentum to a 10-2 season. This is not Croom. This is Mullen in year 4.

10-2.

Since when did the bears start to "believe"?.............. Did you happen to get a look at the empty seats during ANY of their games last year? On more than one occasion they were lucky to have MAYBE 25k in the stadium after half time. There was an internal uproar over the stadium being consistantly empty. I understand wins = butts in seats. But to put the bears as the poster child for all things positive and upbeat doesn't fly with me.
