This is one of my pet peeves about how the NCAA does recruiting. They do not allow schools to announce their preferred walk-ons along with their signees.
I think this is utterly stupid.
I mean, what difference does it make? It's not like a guy who walks on is stealing the spotlight from the guys that are getting the scholarships. I think it is an honor to even be invited to be on the team, and I think they should be recognized for that. The big time guys like Damien Robinson are still going to get the same Lion's share of attention
And if stealing the spotlight from the scholarship guys is such a big deal, then why not allow schools to announce who their preferred walk-ons are a week after signing day?
Personally, as a fan I want to know who is going to be on the team out of curiousity more than anything.
