Okay, snarky comments aside, does anyone have any idea about 2nd round hosting? Do teams that jump back in host?

Providence will not get back in. They never have. The blue team that got the bye, the Mighty Mustang, will host StL. DLS will host Marmion.

Any public league prep bowl scores?
I don't think any CPS Prep Bowl playoff games were played this week. They are waiting for 97% of the teams to get knocked out in the State playoffs. As for Providence I doubt they continue. They always turn their nose up to the Prep Bowl

That's actually not a sore point with me considering Providence likely has no student body let alone players from within Chicago city limits. Since Marist went coed, they dont reach up as much along the Rock island line (up to Blue Island, Midlo, Oak Forest) like they did in the late 90s/early 00s.

I also heard that PC isn't getting back in the Prep Bowl. Iggy lost tonight. Do they jump back in?

Irony...all the talk of Providence. Was it not Brother Rice who turned down the offer to play in this prestigious game last year because they were... Fill in the blank for me.

I don't know if this is some kind of a shot....really not concerned. Especially since there were no shots taken at Provi, just a fact that they never participate in the Prep Bowl. Haven't at least in the recent past. I think their emphasis is to get their kids into wrestling, basketball and any other winter activities they may participate in. BR did turn it down last year. Reason was the Juniors were a great group that had gone 9-0 as freshman and sophomores and didnt want to be around that bad group of seniors who apparently didnt care much. I think it has worked out ok, agree?

The juniors last year aka the seniors this year had a players only meeting discussing if they wanted to play in the prep bowl.
They decided it was better to start off season workouts and not be around the toxic senior class. The coaching staff respected their decision. Like I stated many times before to me this shows incredible leadership and maturity that is obviously been shown on the field this year.
I would say that was the right call by then junior class
Time to put this thing to rest

St.Ignatius @ De La Salle Fri 6pm confirmed
And I believe Marmion is @ St.Rita because St.Rita can’t get a double bye so St.Laurence might get the bye this round.

My cousin ended up getting kicked off the board for bringing that up as it escalated from there.I mean it's up to the school but I feel the same way about schools who snub the NIT,CBI and CIT.I remember years ago Fenwick went 3-6 and won 3 games in the Prep Bowl Playoffs before losing a heartbreaker in the Catholic Championship but finished 6-7.

I wonder, at times, how guys get early info on the IHSA playoffs ... but I marvel at how anyone gets inside info on the Prep Bowl. You must be the
CCL Commissioner.

Yes, I heard from a Rita kid that they have Marmion, and StL coach just told his kids he has a bye.

If this is how it went down in my opinion it makes the choice worse the decision to play or not should have been up to the seniors only they should have been able to vote to play or not.

Not if the seniors had bad attitudes. I am sure they were thrilled to hear of the juniors decision.

Seniors voted for rice last year. I still can’t believe how much interest this draws from people outside the program. But your opinion is your opinion.

Didn’t fenwick also choose not to participate this year?

I do agree with you in letting the seniors vote to dictate participating.

Interest? It was told there was a juniors only meeting and the coaches held to their decision not to play. Is there something else we should follow from that. It looks like it will work out to their best interest. If they should have to make the same choice this year I am sure the juniors will decide again not to Prep Bowl. That’s about it.

it was known the seniors were done and believe me Badke was done with them as well. Juniors knew what was best for them moving forward which was to get the F away from that Senior group

Knock is correct. Both seniors and juniors were met with.

WIU78 why do you care?

In my opinion Only person I think that should be upset would be a parent of the seniors.

The seniors chose not to play. Story over.

I hope rice becomes like Loyola and never has to worry about playing in the prep bowl again!

Looking at all the CPS teams knocked out of the playoffs plus the 5-4 teams & 4-5 teams who didn't get in I wonder how they will do the CPS playoffs

Only hopped in because of the ridiculous treatment Providence has absorbed on issues related to personal decisions regarding playing football games. This was / is a very similar situation. It is possible for Provi and LWE folks to travel in the same circles. The stories you hear on EDGY are only the tip of the iceberg compared to fellow CCL abuse dealt out to Providence parents. Done.

I thought that after your team's morale was destroyed by the decision to forfeit, perhaps you guys would finally realize that it might be a good idea to shut up. After all, how many of those players will transfer to another school for next season? Are you trying to encourage them? These kids read Edgy Tim, you know.

If you feel somewhat abused by all that's happened, well ...consider the really, really nasty things said about Mt Carmel by Providence parents on their football team's Facebook page. According to several of them, my alma mater put "victory ahead of the safety" of their sons -- that statement was about as benign as it got. "Why couldn't they play the game here?" said more than one hysterical parent.

It didn't take long for all of it to be taken down. At least someone showed some sense.

You didn't get half of what you had the nerve and gall to give out.

This issue was much greater than what was suggested by those narrow minded people and the school president who caved into them. The parents of hundreds of Mt Carmel boys and the parents of hundreds of their dates (including my great niece from Orland Park) were fine with the decision for them to attend the school's homecoming dance that evening -- in the building adjacent to the field Providence was afraid to come to.

"...abuse dealt out to Providence parents." Give me a break.

There are only two CPS conferences that are eligible for the CPS playoffs- Red Bird and Land of Lincoln. The top 4 in each of those conferences are eligible. Total of 8 teams that will play for the prep bowl birth. The rest of CPS is done.

Everything worked out for Rice in the end and good for them. I was against the decision as much as anyone and am not privy to anything related to Rice but that toxic environment is not a good thing. Again good to see those seniors have probably the most impressive run of Rice football players in school history over a 4 year span.

Fenwick opted out this year not sure why but after pissing and moaning about Rice I will let Fenwick do as they choose..who the hell am I anyway.

Providence has never been in the Prep Bowl playoffs so this year is no different than any other for them. I believe B-Mac was the same.
