Wright will go to the biggest brand Duke. So we better act now for a shot.

Cal doesn't beat Self and Self wins ball games. Self keeps a few guys for 3 years, no roster turnover.
Cal doesn't beat self? Who gives a sh*t about a couple pathetic games held in the first week of the season?! Self teams suck in the tournament and cal shines in march. No comparison considering cal has a new team every year to boot

It would be really nice to get Self. He's in a nowhere place right now, able to recruit 5 star players that will have 2-3 key players back. He'd be even better here.
Because he is a cheater...don’t dig on the cheating types

Here's a better question about Allen... why would he stay? Just to see another 5 star kid come in and get the opportunity to miss shots? Eff that noise. Cal has mishandled Allen (team) the entire year. Why would he change?
There is a lot of truth to this. Allen is playing now because this team isn’t good at all and Cal was essentially forced or we wouldn’t be hitting any shots.

Next year Allen will have to re-earn his minutes while they are handed to incoming freshmen with “potential”. Under Cal, Allen is. Career 15 min max set shooter on average. I’d go to Xavier, Vandy, Florida, Cincinnati and have the freedom to be a focal point of the offense.

If Cal quits I would like to see us get someone totally unexpected, preferably young, and with some unique and possibly innovative ideas on basketball, especially offense. It would be nice to be on the cutting edge again. Rupp was that way

BCG sounds like your guy, he was innovative alright. [roll]

Tyler Summit will probably be available after he finishes this season coaching under his wife/former player he inseminated in 2017. Unless we really go woke and allow the ladies on the men’s team, he won’t be able to impregnate any players then marry them after divorcing the prior wife. Pitino would applaud the hire publicly.

‘Tyler Summitt, the son of the legendary former Tennessee head coach, has been hired as an assistant coach for the Fairborn Skyhawks in Fairborn, Ohio. He will coach under his wife, Brooklyn Summitt, who played for her husband at Marquette and Louisiana Tech.’

Duke will hire someone from Ks coaching tree and it won’t be Wright. It will be Scheyer, Brey, or Stevens and the last concerns me the most. Self is a slimy cheat who cheats and aside from winning big 12 conference championships, doesn’t do a damn thing or put us in a better position than Cal. Plus he’s dirty. So again, no.
Self won same as Cal one only thing he does is win more games but ky got more draft picks

The sooner we all make the effort to move this board away from politics the better we all, the team included, will be. I personally don’t give a rats *** who’s in the White House, Congress, Dog Catcher. Phuck all that noise that divides us. Let’s quit

The problem with your post is not the fans,,,,it’s our own damn team!
I didn’t kneel. I didn’t disparage the Rupp family. It was the team. I don’t give a damn who it is whether it’s the President of UK the Head Basketball coach or the team it’s self. You throw **** at UK Basketball and I am going to defend what took generations to build.

bringing it in here, let’s not worry about who does what when they’re not on that floor. The sooner we do that, the better we all can be.
I pledge to all of you right now this very minute that I will never ever discuss anything political on here. It’s a waste of time and space. Whose with me??????!!!

This crap year has prepared me. I’m just thankful to have a roof over my head and a paycheck coming in. The basketball team sucking isn’t registering like it normally would for me.
This is probably the best attitude to take right now if most are like me when it comes to UK basketball. I use to lose it when we lost and more so to a team we should not have lost too. Now I just shrug and watch something else.

Anyone we get will have to be checked out for a strong mental attitude because, as we all know, coaching at UK has no equal in pressure. The magnifying glass other blue bloods play under is nothing compared to the Hubble UK plays under.

I will not be surprised at transfers, my guess is 2 at the end of the season

I don't think Allen will transfer. The entire state has his back. If he transfers Cal will be blamed more than any other transfer and it will be considered a slap in the face to Kentucky fans.

The program is going to do all they can to make sure Allen stays.

this is now and always has been a horrible take.

its the reason why #1 and #2 seeds in the tournament are going to be few and far between.

The solution for Cal is to try to play as many weak horrible teams as he can at the start of the season. While that is a solution, its horrible basketball and kills fan interest in the team. UK has never measured itself against SEC teams.

Uk has always played a tough schedule until the past couple seasons.
The new era of basketball ,with players leaving early everywhere, the first week or two mean next to nothing. If it's a horrible take why did Duke not win the title with zion?
Because they didn't improve

We are headed toward the worst season in recent history and are not going to make the NCAA tourney. One would think at least we will have everyone return and finally have a mature, experienced team next season. BBN heads are going to explode when we have a terrible season then still lose multiple players to the draft. I think we lose Sarr, Boston, Clarke, Jackson, and Brooks no matter how bad we finish to draft or overseas play no matter how bad we finish. Always have potential to lose one or more to transfer as well.
I agree.. gird your loins Catfans!

umm...because OAD doesn't work?

saying November/December games don't matter is a result of our current situation.

The people saying that support Cal and the OAD concept while also realizing that reloading a team every year requires a learning curve that results in UK fans being force fed horrible basketball (even when we do manage a win against a marquee team).

But even if you fully support that approach, its not compatible with how college basketball is set up. Consistent winning teams from the start of the season are rewarded with high seeds. At one time there was a model where how you played the last 10 games was weighted but that doesn't exist anymore. Even if you have a good season by OAD standards for Cal now, a #1 seed is out of reach. A bad one ...well...we see it first hand now.

As a result we have a "process" that results in us decreases the chances of us having the best seed and as an effect reduces our chances of a long tourney run.

Agree 110% with original poster..... down seasons happens. But most players return. Not in the Calipari culture... We are a revolving door NBA developmental league.

Cal just being innovative and ahead of the game. With where wokeness is heading it won’t be long before refs will be making calls based on which team never had a Trump supporter on it.

And don’t forget an ESPY for best team in kneeling. Banners are so passé.

Next years recruits would do the same and the ones after that and after that and.....
And how would this be any different than what has happened every year since Cal has been here? Most of his players leave after one year, and we rinse and repeat.

It might surprise some on here what caliber of players we could recruit to UK if we had the right coach, the right system, and they felt like they would get a fair shake on playing time, instead of having to watch from the bench while these NBA wannabes try to hone their game for the NBA draft while stinking up the floor by laying bricks on offense and loafing on defense.

UK will still be UK long after these 5 stars and Cal are gone and will be remembered only as another chapter of UK basketball history.

I dont agree with one and done. Fortunately for us most of our guys play a 2nd year. Especially as of late.
You can sit and tell me all you want that certain teams are doing such n such n doing it the right way, and none of that is gonna matter in march. There's only a handful of teams that win the title. Ever.
Virginia isn't one normally, maybe not villanova either but look at the past 25 years.

yea, we had all kinds of second year guys coming back for the team this year.

The reality is our talent that is good enough to win titles? Isn't good enough to do it their first year here and leave .

The "talent" that comes back is saddled with the same issues our veterans deal with this year. The new guys are given too much playing time and can't develop enough to put together a consistent string in March.

OP isn't wrong and the fact that we are coming up on a VERY tough stretch that could see this team lose as many as 6 games in a row. Look at the schedule, look at the talent level of this UK team and remember that there is no way Calipari is going to change his style of play. Now, tell me how this team gets to 12 wins.

No. I’m not paying attention to it. Tell me the last time you were on a college campus and didn’t see some form of protest? I don’t care what they do or how they express themselves off the court. I didn’t ask them to change anything philosophically. All I require is they put the ball thru the hoop that James Naismith designed.
40 years ago, Lavon Williams wore African dresses on campus to draw attention to his African ancestry. You remember that? Neither did I.

They expressed themselves on the court...

Their actions on the court are very much representative of this team. I dont know and don't care what they do off the court. How do you not realize what they did ON the court?

If you look close enough you will find it. Posts all the time about wanting actual pg who are not 6'6" when we have only had 1 pg ever that size. They went on to say they wanted 6'2" pg who could shoot. Not to mention stay 4 years.
That is happening down the road in bowling Green. Wku has exactly what our fans are asking for. How's that working out. Middle of the pack recruits that stay around and get experience.

The faster our fans realize no Player out of high school that is considered "good" will stay around more than 2 years, the better off we will be.
I'm sure you could take a team like belmont has and fire up 40 3's every game and eventually be decent, but our fans wouldn't wait it out. Everyone wants something that is impossible to get at uk

True. But that’s the kind of coach we should be looking for, whenever we start. Someone not afraid of the challenges, and confident that they can do it. If a coach has reservations about coming here because of the pressure, then he probably shouldn’t come. BCG had confidence, but it was diluted in 100 proof. Kinda like me at 18, asking the prettiest girl in town to go out with me.

A younger version of me would’ve punched holes in the walls for most of our games this season.

Now, I do what you do. I turned it off at halftime the other night and watched something else. No sense in getting mad.
