Long story short a Bama fan started a thread on the Auburn Scout's premium board saying "There will be news coming out tomorrow that will completely shift any wrong doing to MSU! Blah Blah Blah.." The thread got up to about 5 pages long, but I can't read it...

It made such an impression it prompted sanfordandsun to make THIS 7 page long thread saying Auburn was in the clear on the Auburn free board. The Bama fan (Kingpin) admitted he started it here on tigerdroppings.

Long story short some Bama fan got 1,000 Auburn fans hopes up on some pure BS.

There might be some truth to their story.

There is no doubt there will be an infraction on us from what I have seen/read so far.

Once Cam's father/Rodgers approached us for money, Cam was an ineligible player to us but we still recruited him afterwards. We were somewhat stupid in handling this situation...we should have stopped the recruitment at that point...game over...and had no further contact because the player violated his eligibility. It sounds from Rodgers interview that Cecil left with the impression at the Shell station that money might still happen... The coaches during the meeting didn't appear to get the message across to Cecil/Rodgers that money is not an option... or maybe Cecil was looking for money through another avenue..boosters.

All these stories sort of align with each other...

Bell confirms that Cecil contacted him...again with the impression that money was a possibility..
Bond confirms that Rodgers contacted him...but says on a radio show that the request for money was through several people.
MSU recruiters/coaches confirm after his Auburn commitment that money was too much...we were still recruiting him
Rodgers confirms meeting and that Cecil solicated funds..

Auburn may get off free on this because how was Auburn to know that Cecil was asking for money at MSU? I know I'm reaching here but if Auburn never admits that Cecil asked for money, no other party from the Auburn recruitment fesses up, and a money trail is not found then Auburn is set..

Best case for us is that we get a minor infraction for not handling matters swiftly and ending the recruitment once money was requested.

I seriously doubt anything happens to Auburn long term (violations) and most likely Auburn has to only vacate the wins. The only trump card in this is the FBI involvement would uncover Auburn's involvement..

how quickly did you want us to let it be known to them? We did nothing wrong. If we stopped recruiting everyone that has ever had any money offered to them, our classes would look like, well, Croom's. Except for his last class, that one was pretty good.

The only way we would ever remotely be punished would be if someone actually offered them money, and even then, based on the Albert Means case, I doubt anything would happen since Cam didn't play for us.

Cecil had a come to Jesus meeting and decided money would not a good idea.

I don't understand our logic on why we continued to recruit him if he was shopping around the way he was and not think that if we got him for free the other schools wouldn't snitch.

I've been reading quotes from that thread on other Auburn sites and blogs. I actually went to bed a little nervous last night that maybe they were on to something. When Bond says, "This isn't about Auburn" I started wondering if this whole mess wasn't just about MSU. I was pretty sure Auburn had not "turned MSU in", because they would have had to do that through the SEC and MSU would be well aware of what was going on, but I was just worried that there was some truth to it.
