Great video. He does have one piece of information wrong in that Drones played in the VTech game last year. In his analysis, he says I don’t think they had made the switch at QB to Drones yet.

Granted it was Drones first full game, but the guy he replaced was injured in the prior game so Drones had played the last possession and knew he was starting against RU throughout prep week.

One piece wrong? Lmao. How about that Kirk's offense first go around was good? Or that we lose nobody off the d.... other than of course our leading tackler, starting d tackle, and NFL drafted cb? And not just no mention of the Powell injury - no mention of Powell whatsoever.

Do people actually pay guys like this to then gamble their own money? So crazy.

Considering he isn't an RU fan, I thought it was a pretty good review for the most part.

I am hearing a lot of people say we handle UMD easily and I don't get that. They have pasted us the last 3 years, to the point where you can't just say it was Tagliavoa (sp). Even without him, that's going to be very tough. Just like VT and so many other games on this schedule, it's a big swing game to get 7+ wins.

I will be at 9 of 12 games this year (missing VT, Nebraska, and MSU). I'm hopeful that the offense takes a jump up and we make some noise.

He mentioned the guys that left on D. He went down the line and was like - wow all these guys who are senior veterans are back. That part was not inaccurate. He mostly got it right and whatever he said about Kirk’s first offense had no bearing on the forecast.

Agreed - As a fan since 1983, the percentage of outside forecasters being bullish on RU has been low. I know the schedule has a lot to do with it, but hearing outsiders optimistic about RU football is a breath of fresh air.

The schedule is a normal power 4/5 schedule this year. Instead of facing 3 of the top 6 teams on the country right off the bat.

The top 10 teams vs even the 15-25 ranked teams is a totally different level where even the 15-25 teams would be 14+ point underdogs in 90% of this matchups.

He is an outsider, and he is paid for through analysis for betting purposes and giving RU that positive review is pretty good. He said that Washington vs Rutgers may be a good bet if Vegas only looks at the helmets lol. About Maryland, they lost a lot of firepower this year. He thinks Rutgers won't have a problem with Maryland even though RU lost to them bad last year which he mentioned. I think we will beat Maryland but every game will be a battle.

Yeah for a program outsider it’s extremely thorough. The only truly inaccurate comment was about drones not playing. He was off by a game. But in fairness, he could’ve modified it to say Drones was just getting his feet wet and the point would still stand.

I think he said Drones wasn't the starter yet. I don't think he said he didn't play.

It’s amazing how times/ perception has changed.

This years scheduled has been called, by some, as a “cupcake” schedule since we aren’t playing 3 or 4 of the top 10 teams in the country (as we always do)

But after the first two cupcakes (and really the only 2 cupcakes on the schedule) we are playing :

At home : Washington (NC runner up); Wisconsin (perennial top 20); UCLA (perennial top 20); Minnesota (a Big10 team); Illinois (a Big10 team)

And the following ON THE ROAD: Virginia Tech (perennial top 20 team and team that a lot of pundits are high on); Nebraska (a legacy program; another team that a lot of people are high on this year; notoriously tough place to play); USC (yet another legacy program; perennial top 10/20 team); Maryland (solid high major program that always seems to kick out ***/ bad matchup); Michigan State (yet another legacy program; another perennial top 20 program)

This is hardly a “cupcake schedule”. It’s a reasonable schedule for a team in one the premier conferences

Its only easier since our previous schedules were just ABSURD (having to play OSU, UM and Pedd each year).

The fact that we don’t play them or Oregon certainly makes it easier … but I would argue our schedule went from absurd to what-you-should-expect (playing in a conference like the Big10) but hardly “easy”

He started and played every down of the game. Didn’t he?
My memory was he came in early, but I think I'm wrong and he played the whole game. But my point is simply that the guy in the video didn't say he didn't play in the Rutgers game last year. He said he wasn't starting yet. I took that to mean Rico knew Drones played in the Rutgers game last year but was thinking he wasn't yet the named starter.

He said “at this point they still were not starting Jones”. Seems to me if he meant it the way your suggesting he would have phrased it as he did with the NW game which was a spot on description (first game - new coach). He could’ve easily just said - it was Jones first career start.

Grant Wells (incumbent starter) got hurt in the Purdue game. Drones came in for the last drive and it was certainly known by the VTech coaching staff that Drones would be the starter the following week (and I believe by Rutgers as soon as the injury report came out). Wells only took 5 snaps by the way for the remainder of the season following the Purdue game (and none before November).
