Pretty Sure USC is the best team in the SEC

I still think Bama is the NC. Much like us, they haven't been playing their best games against weaker opponents. Unlike us, their lethargic play still crushes said weaker opponents.

I think USCe is definitely a top 5 team.. but I'd still take Bama over them.

It's amazing what a lethargic, uninspired game vs Ole Miss and a bye week does for the perception of a team.

Bama is going to skull17 Mizzou next weekend. If the line is 14 points or under, I'm taking. Mizzou will NOT be able to move the ball against them.

I'd put them and Bama at co-#1 for now. Those may be the best 2 teams in the country. Anybody that's not sold on USC just hasn't been watching them play. They are loaded.

That same USC team was down 17-7 at halftime to a team we were beating 20-7 at halftime. Either USC isn't as good as they looked yesterday or we're better than a lot of people on here are bitching about.

I guess as a nation as a whole they might be, because bama and oregon are the only teams that stand out. But just because they beat georgia like that does not put fear in me. I thought georgia looked weak against ut the week before, so I was not all that surprised. Florida is every bit as good as sc, but then they haven't impressed me all that much either. It's a weird season and its really hard to tell how good anybody really is right now. They may be a top 5 team, but they look beatable. Heck tsun showed that bama can be scored on, so I think they are beatable too. I guess I am saying I am not ready to just concede everything at the moment. Still a lot of ball to be played

Exactly, their defense is strong and Shaw manages the game well and can beat you w/out handing off the ML. Add in Ace Sanders, this team is lethal. Should be interesting to see if UF's new found solid defense can stop them.

That's a little misleading. Kentucky got an incredible number of breaks and fluke plays in that 1st half. Normally, when a home underdog has a 17-7 lead going into halftime, you start to think about maybe seeing an upset. All I could think at halftime was, the 2nd half is going to be ugly.
And the 2nd half played out exactly like I thought it would.

Bama is more physical...

...I would hate to see Bama play mad. Because they have some real oxen on that team. They toyed around with OM & got *****-slapped a bit. But even in sleepwalking mode, they still had 10 times more muscle than OM. I think USC is more of a finesse team that relies on a scrambling QB. In a SEC championship game, the physical team beats the finesse team team 8 times out of 10.

That doesn't answer my question though. I asked you who would you put in your top 5 if USCe isn't one? You can't just say these 2 teams and everybody else. Also, just because they're in the top 5 (much less the top 10) doesn't mean that they're not unbeatable. Every team has their weaknesses and many will have let downs. If USCe isn't top 5, what are 3 other teams that are more impressive than them? Because I certainly can't think of any that look significantly better than them.

Have you seen South Carolina's defensive line? That's going to be a hell of a matchup when (if) they go against Bama's offensive line.

Agree. They got a top notch defensive line. They're plenty physical. Bama's probably better in the defensive backfield & maybe at OL. I don't think USC's quite got the complete package, but they definitely deserve their ranking with what we've seen so far.

I think I answered it when I said if you take the nation as a whole, then I guess they do deserve they deserve that ranking. To me when you are in the top five you should be head and shoulders above everyone else, and they are not even head and shoulders above everyone in the eastern division of the sec. They do not scare me, and I don't think they are equal with bama. Maybe the sec is just that good, because no one in the nation looks dominate except bama. Yet they gave up 14 to the bears, so go figure. I believe the sec, with the exception of a few teams is open for grabs this year. We have as much a chance as anyone

Those days are long gone. Because of scholarship restrictions and steady improvements in developing athletes, overall talent has increased across the country making it harder for teams to separate themselves from everyone else. That's also why a lot of those teams we even once feared seem as if we're closer to being equal with them. What separates the best teams from everyone else is depth, execution and discipline, and right now... South Carolina is better than most other teams in the nation at those 3 things.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but if you are then we have as much depth as as they do. We have as much discipline, and our execution is pretty good too. So, if they are that good, then so are we.

West Virginia impresses me as well. I hope they get paired up in a bowl game with either bama or sc to see what they can do against a good d
