I have been fortunate to see hundreds of live shows in my life; over the past decades I have seen many of the biggest acts to ever tour.

I am not sure I have ever witnessed a better show than the 11:00p Prince show last Saturday night. Amazing showmanship, amazing band, excellent "live" catalog.

Add to that the fact that he is one of the best rock guitarists to ever pick up the instrument and you have an amazing performance.

I have seen a few as good - but not sure many if any better.

Not sure I can go as far as saying he's one of the best rock guitarists, but he is a great guitarist. Many people have no idea how good he is.

Actually saw this vid on reddit the other day in a random thread, I think the OP was about Derek Trucks. They linked this video [/URL]which is of him, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, and some other superfriends playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

People always reference the end of "Purple Rain" as an example of his guitar chops but this vid is a much better display IMO. Prince's solo starts at 3:27.

He played here in Charleston last year. No opening act. The guy loves Music, and plays accordingly. Everyone knows his big hits, my favorites are the ones that flew under the radar. "Baby I'm A Star", "Musicology", "Thieves In The Temple", 'Brand New Orleans"...take your pick!

Prince could do jazz too. If you have time on your hands, track down Madhouse. "8" is more traditional, "16" is more fusion. Eric Leeds was the supposed frontman, but Prince played most of the instruments on the studio recordings.

Like Ghostvol spoke to above he plays a lot of types of music so you never know which way he will go in a show.

He did bring funk, jazz, and soul in the mix Saturday night but it was mostly a guitar driven show with lots of blues tinges.

It was great for me because one of the reasons I am a fan is his guitar work. He can make it bleed.

3rdEyeGirl is an excellent complement to him - they have been playing with him for three years and it shows.

There was a song on his first album that showed me he was gonna be good. Can't remember the name but had some great guitar. Maybe I'll dig out my old albums and look. FCC.

Prince is super talented. I think he's supposedly professional-quality player on a number of instruments - guitar, piano, horns, drums, etc. I like some of his music but not sure I like enough to go see him live. I have also heard he's unbelievable live. I'd probably end up liking a lot more of his music if I saw him live. That's normally how it goes for me.

I'm indifferent towards concerts. I like Prince's songs but am mostly a greatest hits listener. My wife managed to get tickets for the Sunday night final show.

The guy killed it. One of the coolest things about the show was how tiny Prince was and he absolutely killed it on stage. He is an impressive person.

I was also at the Saturday night 11pm show. 4th time I've seen him. 2nd time in Louisville (Louisville Gardens in about '97), once in Rupp, once in US Bank in Cincinnati, and my wife has seen him about 5 additional times. He favorite musician ever.

As good a live show as you will see if you like the music. It's a shame some people are too cool for their own good to appreciate how much fun a show like his really can be.
