What's the latest on this guy? UK needs he and Holmes IMO.
Pringle is an out of shape juco who would probably need 2 years to get conditioned properly at this level. Holmes is probably more interesting. But neither of them is close to the player Kobe Smith is. Every year, every school has gains and losses during the meat of the recruiting season. It's going to happen. Bonner's commitment helps. But losing Kobe Smith hurts. A program in Kentucky's position doesn't get many shots at defensive players as good as Kobe Smith.

Do understand that Holmes and Smith are going to be two entirely different players that will have two entirely different objectives as a defensive lineman. Holmes is more comparable to CJ Johnson than Kobe Smith. Naquez Pringle is comparable to Kobe Smith, because they're nose-tackles.

if elam doesn't get injured then we only need a guy to play 15 or snaps/game next year. we can play some 4 man fronts and go small some too if needed. pringle does have some upside .

Except for both being huge guys who play in the middle of the defense, Pringle and Kobe Smith are not comparable. Kobe Smith will probably be an early impact player at South Carolina. We will see, but I doubt Pringle would get on the field a whole lot for a P5 school. Have to hope this becomes a breakout year for Elam. As it should.

Anyone who cries he is out of shape need only look ate development, YES DEVELOPMENT, of Lewis and what he was doing while healthy this past year. We should not hear that from anyone here again.

I am not sure that Smith will make an early impact for S. Carolina; there are reports that he has a fairly serious injury issue.

That caught me off guard. Can't complain about the addition of a JUCO defensive lineman though. I anticipate that we'll add JJ Holmes as well (he plays a different position on the d-line than Pringle), and we're probably done. May add another defensive end.

I am not interested in getting into a debate about something that is obvious. Pringle's other offers were Southern Miss, Troy, Appalachian State. He will apparently be a Wildcat now, so I wish him the best. When Kobe Smith de-committed Stoops found another tackle from the pool of remaining available candidates. We will see what happens next fall. Matt Elam's time is here, and Matt must get the job done. After that, Meant and Middleton are solid players who have been learning from Brumbaugh for several years. Pringle will have a hell of a time taking playing time away from them. I think this will be a breakout year for Meant, a rapid improvement year for Elam and Middleton, and a make or break year for Dubose.

Smith was rated as a d tackle, but played primarily on the offensive line in high school. Couple that with a shoulder injury that required surgery, was too much of a gamble bringing him in as an ee. Time will tell about Smith. Pringle comes in as an ee and able to go through winter workouts and spring ball. Jucos sometimes are hard to evaluate, I think Pringle is a good pick up in a needed position.

If Dubose had knee surgery as we've heard I guess it'll be a break year.

When Lewis committed, some fans tossed it off and said he was an after thought to a recruiting class Stoops came to late. He had no stars or fancy offers. People, at best, called him a project and many said he would be recruited over. Three years later, he was a stud this team needed and could not afford to lose. Any naysaying about Pringle is not worth reading. We just don't know. What we do know is that he worked hard to get here for the spring, is excited to be here, and the staff sees something in him that can contribute. Why say anything negative about that?

He's a big man that looks to have a good motor. Good fit for the nose tackle spot. I could see him playing 15 snaps a game with a chance to earn more as he gets in a little better shape.

Pringle is a good pick up at a needed position. What is negative about that?

Smith has a shoulder problem to overcome at SC, so it will be awhile before he produces.

Nice pickup much needed after the smith loss and more of an immediate impact Ayer considering smiths injury. So smith already committed to sc? If so that sucks, huge loss. With players like this though it seems as if the first year is a transition year with there senior years being the break thru year for them. Regardless adds much needed depth at the position considering injuries are inevitable, and Elam can only handle so many snaps and who knows how effective those snap will even be. Wish he would just get it together and be the player he can and should be. Definitely needed a redshirt more than any player I can remember. Boy has needed years worth of conditioning since arriving here before becoming a serviceable DL. And Saban once called this kid the best DL in the country, wonder if he woulda got it together there because there is something special with that kid, hope he gets it done this year. If not then he's been a major bust.

I stil feel like a redshirt even this season would be the best thing for both sides. Better late than never right? Most of this seasons success depends on obviously barkers development, and the interior dlineman. If Elam is poised for a breakout season, would be absolutely huge, if not he needs the redshirt IMO even though it wouldn't happen. So hopefully in this offseason everyone is in elams ear about how important he is to this coming seasons success and hopefully he accepts the challenge. We need ya now more than ever get it together and stop standing straight up!!!!
