Shouldn't 4a East show cross bracketing the regional final four?

Rod I have a ignorant question to ask ! What is cross- bracketing and at what point does it happen in the playoffs and what regions have adopted this ? For instance , will the 4a teams , at some point play west or east teams , and can you lose and still play ?
Cross-bracketing is when, instead of playing a bracket down from the start down to just one team (in traditional style), there is a change at some point in the process. For example, in 1A, 2A and 3A, when there are two teams left in the East bracket and two teams left in the West bracket, rather than playing E1 v E2 and W1 v W2, they "cross bracket" where E1 hosts W2 and W1 hosts E2.
In most instances, cross-bracketing happens at the final four level (see 1A, 2A and 3A). In both 4A East and 6A South, the teams cross-bracket in round three.
In 4A, the East and West never play until the state championship.
No, you can never lose and still play in the football postseason.

I seriously doubt this will happen, but I hope that the VHSL will adopt a universal playoff format. Even if they just require that all regions statewide in a group classification adopt the same format. (I accept that what may be best for say, 2a, many not be best for a 5a or 6a).
Most know how rediculious I find the fact that 4a East and West have a different format. I'm at a loss to come up with a single example of a top level of championship that has two different processes to put forth the final two contenders for that championship.

After looking at the bracket, I'm still a little confused. If the playoffs started today and Courtland, Monacan, LT and Lafayette make it to round 3, who plays whom?
The higher/better seed of Courtland and Monacan would play the lower/worse seed of Lake Taylor and Lafayette.

4A west...Do seeds not carry over throughout the playoffs? In your bracket you have 1 playing winner 8/9, 2 playing winner 7/10, etc. That holds true if the higher seed wins. But with an "upset", wouldn't that change the bracket? For example if low seed 12 upset 5, why would the top seed play 8/9 and not the remaining lowest seed 12? In past years I didn't think seeds changed even with wins.
It's a tournament format there is no reseeding or switching to get the highest playing the lowest possible.
1 vs.8/9 winner
4 vs. 5/12 winner
2 vs. 7/10 winner
3 vs. 6/11 winner
Its so you can get a quarterfinal round of:
1 vs. 8
4 vs. 5
2 vs. 7
3 vs. 6
If the upset happens then so be it.
That is one of the big flaws in the whole process. The other being power points are abandon after the initial seeding.
Question- say # 1 and #2 seed finish in conference 17/18 and other section conference 19-20 the final two teams are seeds # 3 and # 4. Does both teams in conference 17/18 host games?
Official answer on this is "No".
Best seed from one pod will host worst seed from other regardless of which seed is higher.
