Personally, I think this is awesome.

Interesting. Herd talked about it for like 5 minutes this morning (not the ad, but marijuana) in reference to drug tests for NFL players and stuff and mentioned how alcohol is entirely accepted by everyone even though it causes fights in stands and deaths (DUI related) while pot really only harms the person doing it, and by that he meant missing work or something stupid. He kind of lost me there.
But it's an interesting point. How many times an off season do you hear about an NFL star getting into a fight or getting arrested at a club where they're assumed to be drunk? Maybe not as much but still in the news is how players test positive for THC, and the only thing that's harming is their playing ability... which alcohol does too.
Glad it's picking up steam. Weird to choose NASCAR as the inlet into mainstream pop culture though.
I'd say, in college, there were at least as many redneck potheads as there were hippy potheads in my fraternity. Hell it was kind of funny. Freshmen year, all the rednecks would hate the hippy guys. However, by sophomore/junior year the the rednecks had either become best friends with the hippies or had actually turned hippy. It was a unique social experiment, I guess.
I'd say a solid percent of Talladega's crowd are there ironically. I'd say half of my friends went every year and none of them could care less about NASCAR but it was "the experience" of living in a tent, wearing jorts, drinking piss beer, and hanging out with people they otherwise would never hang out with.I've sat on the backstretch at Talladega before. Didn't see anyone there that looked like an evangelical. It's a little... rougher crowd.

Haha college kids are always going to be attracted to anything that could be manipulated to be fun. Talladega is a short trip from Stark, so it makes perfect sense for people to go. Better than anything else going on in town.Just a joke, but the idea of college kids going to do that "ironically" is kind of offensive. Ya know, they's real peeple too.
