Probably Germans, but per a post on GP, Croom is the 31st highest

paid coach. What a con man. Way way way ahead of Boise State at 900k. Chris Peterson (friend of Byrne) come on down for a few years. Straighten this **** out. And move on with my blessing.

There, I fixed it for you. And that is why I think we have a chance at landing him as long as we don't get in a bidding war with a big name program. He might not want the job, but he isn't the pipe dream many say he is.

coach job as one of the 30 best jobs in the nation. Everyone knows it's Starkville, and only MSU. But, it's the SEC baby and it's big money.

For 1.7 we could make a great hire and become a bowl team consistantly. Say what you will about Starkville but its not that bad for a college town, and enough players within 5hrs to recruit. There is no reason why you cannot win at MSU. Name me one fan base that is hungry to win more than State fans?

After spending a weekend in Baton Rouge, Starkville seems like Shrangri La. That is the shittiest college town and campus I have ever been to.

Yea I don't think that hurricane Gustav had anything to do with that at all...

I think LSU's campus is pretty, and enjoy Baton Rouge except for all the refineries down by the river.

No head coach in MSU history has "moved on" to better things. They move to the coaching graveyard.

But, I do agree with you about Starkville -- I think Starkville is Ok as a college town. I like it there. I think we clearly have a great coaching job to offer. It's not Florida. It's not even LSU. But, it is a great job.

Was there no church of latter day saints close by your hotel?

Sorry.

I think Baton Rouge is a great town, though. More cool bars than you can count. The downtown is really undergoing some cool development. I don't particularly care for how large Baton Rouge is. But, other than that, I really enjoy the town every time I go.

For 2 mil a year we become a huge player. Think about it, SEC job, fertile recruiting ground, every game on ESPN and we are paying 2 mil a year. We could make a huge hire for that kind of cash.

They move to the coaching graveyard.

Of the coaches that won here, Tyler, Bellard, and Sherrill, all had baggage. The problem with Tyler was the ridiculous probation and coaches didn't move around back then. Bellard was on the backside of his career regardless. The man was 58 when he left the job. We all know Sherrill's issues from A&M and the one probation early in his career here. Bama probably hires Sherrill in 2000 if the NCAA isn't all over their ***. Felker and Croom.....simply not good enough coaches to be able to build the program up enough to warrant a look from another school. Bad hires.

So, my point is, the school has never hired a proven, young coach. Until that happens, I think it is difficult to assess if the program is really a coaching graveyard.
