I'm a little surprised it's Vizcaino getting the call up and not Gearrin, though. Gearrin has been solid every time he's been with the big club. Vizcaino is certainly the "potential" reliever, but I'd have thought Gearrin would be first in line. We shall see what happens. Either way, it can't be much worse than Proctor.

I wouldn't consider a 7.85 era and a 1.58 whip solid. His .243 BAA is good, but that is about it.

Gearin is a ROOGY at this point, he's had extreme splits in the majors. Granted, that's SSS. But there's a reason behind it to back it up: he doesn't have a pitch to use against lefties.

He would be a great complement to Sherril, but Fredi thinks of all relievers as entire inning relievers. This is probably Wren realizing Fredi would misuse Gearrin like he has misused Sherril. Plus, bringing up another one-batter reliever wouldn't help lessen the load on o'ventbril as much.
