Starters

PG- Jevon Carter
SG- Daxter Miles
SF- Esa Ahmad
PF- Jonathan holton- weak side
PF- Devin Williams- strong side

Second unit

PG- Tyreke Phillip
SG- Teyvon Myers
SF- Nathan Adrian
PF- Lamont West- weak side
PF- Elijah Macon - strong side

Third team

PG- Beetle Bolden
SG- Jaysean Paige
SF- Lamont West
PF- Tayquane Gourd
PF- Logan Rout

These projections are all penciled in because there is quite frankly a lot different groups of players that could play depending on match ups and hot hands. What will really matter is the 5 that are on the court at the ends of games.

That is a deep a team as Huggs has ever had. I'm expecting a lot from this team next year. I think a Big 12 championship is not out of the question and very attainable.

Personally, I think Jeff Goodman is FOS putting us at #32 even losing Staten and Brown. We are loaded at the guard position and bringing in two legit scorers in Myers and Bolden. And, we are upgrading tremendously at the 3 where we have been very weak for years.

I think I might have to go to the Bahamas the 7th through the 15th and check them out personally.

Right now I'm leaning towards this too:

PG- Jevon Carter
SG- Daxter Miles
SF- Esa Ahmad
PF- Jonathan holton- weak side
PF- Devin Williams- strong side

I'd think the chief question is will Huggins go with this traditional 2-guard, 3-forward or a 3-guard lineup (Phillip/Miles/Carter).

Holton/Phillip/Carter spearheading the press is monster.

Carter/Miles/Ahmad gives more offensive punch.

That No. 32 projection is likely heavily influenced by the Kentucky game. Unfortunately it will take some time & signature wins to wash away the stink. It does surprise how it's as if the Maryland game never happened in the minds of many. Terps being praised as a preseason top 3/5 team & a likely national championship meanwhile WVU, who it lost to by 10, is a no show for top 25 consideration.

Staten & Browne voids will be felt in areas of leadership amid adversity & closing out tight games the way seniors do, but I think we'd all agree that replacing 21 PPG & 6 APG by committee is feasible.

I agree a conference championship is not out of the question for 2015-16 & as long as Williams is around, again in 2016-17. Team was in striking distance last season but the loss at KU was a dagger to that.

also adding that coming up in the clutch wasn't just by the seniors. Carter & Miles both came up clutch in the home games vs TCU & KU, two of my favorite Ws of the season. the KU win was a big spark & much needed at that period.

future's bright.

PG - Phillip - Tarik's first season at WVU matches perfectly with Darris Nichols' first 2 seasons
Miles - nobody is taking this spot from DaXgoCrazy
Ahmad - 4 year starter
Holton - lead man on press. Foul-trouble will cause him to share the role with Nate and probably Goard
Williams - The man.

Goard will get 10+ minutes too

2nd unit:

Jevon Carter - PG
Teyvon Myers - SG
Nate Adrian - SF/PF
Ty Goard - PF
Elijah Macon - PF

role players:

Jaysean Paige - decision making keeps him relegated to 10-12 minutes/game
Lamont West - body not physically ready for contributing minutes
Beetle Bolden - like West, Beetle needs to get stronger and until he does, he's going to sit.

Would love to have Nichols 2.0 in Phillip. It'll take a lot to fit the billing/comparison.

If I remember correctly, Nichols was part of one Elite 8, one Sweet 16, one NIT Championship and another Sweet 16. An old fashioned PG who reliably ran the offense and distributed. Turned into a capable scorer as an upperclassman. Will never forget his corner 3 that sunk Miss State in the NIT semis.

I've no problem starting Phillip at PG. It feels as if the overall contributions from Carter are better thus far, but Phillip has more the DNA of a PG.

Miles seems to have a big upside at the 2. Consistency should improve as he continues his WV career. Laid an egg vs Kentucky. Had 7 consecutive double figure outputs prior to that including 23 at Kansas.
