wow
* 8 undefeated teams
* 9 one loss teams

17 out of the 32 slots. Can anyone remember the last time 8A had 8 undefeated teams to start the playoffs?

Hard to believe a team like Marist is 12th when there lone loss was week 1 to Dominant Brother Rice. That is just how good 8a is this year I guess.

NNFAN: great job as usual. I just wondering how this would look with the quad system in place. Would any 10 - 0 teams be playing each other in Round Two? Anyone have the time to do this?

Mathematically impossible, however it is possible that in NNFAN's scenario that there are 8, 11-0 teams all playing eachother in the quarter final round.

I still see Oak Park beating Hinsdale Central and Geneva beating West Aurora. So even if Rice loses I think they get the 7th seed - which then would alllow for perhaps a Quarterfinal rematch with Marist and a semi with HF and if they proceed a rematch with Loyola

If Rice loses then we'll need 2 of the 2-9 showing to lose so that since Rice has more playoff points they'll go to 7 while HC/West Aur goes down below them.

Here ya go... seeds 22-32. I have not looked at Soucie's projections. Not sure how it compares.

22. Huntley (6-3) if they beat McHenry.
23. Palatine Fremd (6-3) have them nipping Hoffman Estates.
24. Maine South (6-3) beats Evanston and is bumped up to 8a.
25. Lockport (6-3) if they lose to LWE.
26. Joliet West (6-3) got them losing to Plainfield North.
27. Evanston (6-3) if they lose to Maine South
28. Leyden (6-3) have a close loss for them to Willowbrook
29. Waubonsie Valley (5-4) pick 'em game knocks out Wheaton North
30. O'Fallon (5-4) will lose to ESL
31. Plainfield South (5-4) barely gets in with close shave over Minooka
32. Niles Notre Dame (5-4) got them losing a close one vs. St. Viator

BTW... I totally agree with Topiary that OPRF could knock off HC. That would drop HC down to a #12 seed and bump OPRF past NN. Don't see Geneva going into Aurora and winning one week after being eliminated. Those WA fans are gonna go nuts with perhaps the biggest game in decades. Therefore... BR could lose and be a #8.

First Round...

NND at Loyola
PS at HF
O'Fal at HC
WV at Palatine
Leyden at Neuqua
Evanston at Oswego
Joliet W at SCE
Lockport at West Aur
Maine South at BR
Fremd at Stevie
Michael Huntley at Barrington
NT at Marist
OPRF at Edwardsville
Lyons at Taft
LWE at NN or Oswego East
Curie at Oswego East or NN

wow! 8a playoffs is going to be awesome. Might as well grab esl, Bradley, prairie ridge, SHG and settle the top team in state once and for all!

The good thing is with this balance a 40 whatever to -0 blowout should be avoided... Watching last years title game was horrible! Pumped to see high level competition from the quarterfinals on.

Thanks, NNFAN! If quads did exist in 8A, here's how it could potentially look according to NNFAN's projections. All Round 2 games, if--and it's a big if--the seeds played out. Just amazing!

(10 - 0) Hinsdale Central vs. (9 - 1) Marist or (9 - 1) Oswego East
(9 - 1) Brother Rice vs. (10 - 0) Nequa Valley
(10 - 0) St. Charles East vs. (9 - 1) Taft
(8 - 1) Curie vs. (9 - 0) Palatine
(9 - 1) Stevie vs. (9 - 1) Barrington
(10 - 0) HF vs. (9 - 1) Huskies! or (9 - 1) Eddie
(10 - 0 Oswego vs. (10 - 0) West Aurora
