Looking at the final two weeks most likely scenarios, and factoring in playoff points.

1. Loyola (9-0) beats BR and earns the top seed.
2. Homewood-Flossmoor (9-0) gets past Bolingbrook and finishes undefeated.
3. Hinsdale Central (9-0) outscores OPRF and locks up 3rd seed.
4. Palatine (9-0) knocks off Barrington, winning Mid-Sub West.
5. Neuqua Valley (9-0) wins week nine showdown with GN, DVC champs.
6. St. Charles East (9-0) untested in final two weeks.
7. Oswego (9-0) also untested in final two weeks, wins SW Prarie.
8. West Aurora (9-0) will face challenge by Geneva, but Vikings eliminated this week.
9. Brother Rice (8-1) drops eight spots with loss to Loyola.
10. Stevenson (8-1) finishes with Waukegan and Gurnee Warren.
11. Lincoln-Way East (8-1) routs Bradley Bourbonnais week nine.
12. Lyons (8-1) hands OPRF the 2nd of three straight defeats this week.
13. Barrington (8-1) drops nine spots with loss to Palatine.
14. Chicago Taft (8-1) teachers strike could blow it all up for the Eagles, a real shame.
15. Marist (8-1) squeak out win this week vs. Benet, finish with eight straight.
16. Edwardsville (8-1) finish with Alton and Granite City, ESL only loss.
17. Naperville North (8-1) playoff points killing the Huskies, thanks Sandburg
18. Oswego East (8-1) have Minooka and Plainfield East. Class 8a just loaded.

Based on the above projections - Can we put you down for NN over WV and WWS for weeks 8 and 9 in the DVC picking thread?;)

On a more serious note - West Aurora has 18 playoff points at present. EIGHTEEN!! most schools are between 25 and 40 points right now. FIVE of their wins are against 1-6 teams. Let me say that again... FIVE of seven teams they have played are 1-6.

And you get an 8 seed for that?

Now I can see why there is so much conference movement and shift...

I honestly think both games are tossups. WWS is suddenly a different team (explosive offense) and WV regains their mojo this past week. What a deep field class 8a is. Might have preferred quads this year.

May be the weakest conference in the history of sports. Imagine eight Cleveland Browns in one division.

Both Wv and Wheaton South are going to be good games, but NN has yet to play their best football. That's the scary thing for everyone. No DVC game is a gimme, but I see NN winning both games.

Looks spot on. I don't think Bourbonnais is a guaranteed win for LWE on the road this week though. BB is good. Two 8-1 teams going on the road week 1 is nuts. It looks like there's a solid chance that New Trier and Curie could be the only teams with 7 wins. A large cluster of teams (Lockport, OPRF, Maine South, Evanston, Joliet West, Notre Dame, and Leyden) could be 6-3.

Do you know why your top 4 differs from Soucie? He has (1) LA, (2) HC, (3) Palatine and (4) HF. A difference in predicted opponents' wins, perhaps?

Working closely on getting you the answer, but obviously he has projected a few teams having different results the next two weeks. Big issue is with Hinsdale Central. HC played American Fork, Utah. American Fork plays a 10 game schedule. They are 5-3, with two winnable games remaining. That's one extra playoff point for Hinsdale. What does the IHSA do about that?

I believe they only take the results of the first 9 games into account. So whatever their record is after week 9. The 10th game - "is like it never happened" Same issue exists for other Illinois teams that played out of state games against teams with a 10 game regular season schedule.

Okay... after taking a real close look... I've got Hinsdale finishing with 41 points, HF with 40, and Palatine with 40 as well. Paper thin margin between 2-4. Had to project several pick'em games. Also had to project out-of-state American Fork, Hammond, Fort Zumwalt West, MO.
