Rumor is the Bison might be joining the Mountain West Conference next season. If true and the Bison make the college football playoffs next season, I think they would be the only team to make the FCS playoffs and FBS playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

North Dakota State will not be entitled to a bowl game or college football playoffs until 2028, but I have witnessed there is special circumstances that may allow them to go to bowl prior to the 2028 season.

That's almost bound to be true. But if they were to make the playoffs next season, it would probably serve as another indicator that the playoffs have gone in the wrong direction.

Yep, much like App State, et al. When a program moves up, they aren't eligible for post season play immediately.

Georgia Southern was a perennial national championship contender in FCS (D-1AA at the time). They moved up to FBS (D1), Sunbelt Conference, and promptly fell off the map.
