I was not wild about him coming into the game, but he had a clutch performance tonight and proved me wrong... Held the game together for us. Well done, Tim.

And at this point in the season I want to see him before I see Devin Jones. When we made the call I was hoping we put in Statz, but when Jones walked out I was about to lose it. Jones has been a thorn in our side instead of quality on the mound lately. We need some more efforts like we got tonight out of Routt and Statz with the season winding down.

He has either been good or bad- not much in between. I wanted him to get through the ninth so that we could save Reed. That didn't happen, but as I said, at least Reed only through five pitches.

some tonight like we did in the second Tennessee game. If we wanted to avoid using Reed again tonight we probably would have been better off letting Stark try to pitch at the beginning of the ninth with the 4 run lead than trying to prolong the Statz outing. Anyway at least Norris, Stark and Mitchell are all fresh for tomorrow and Reed could probably still pitch one more inning tomorrow if he had to given he only had the 5 pitches tonight.

I expect he may come in for a few innings of middle relief today instead of just a few pitches to get a few outs? I can't exactly remember the situation he was called in for during the Mayor's Trophy game

we don't have many left handed pitchers available in the bullpen. Another thing about Statz is he has an era of 3.92, but his SEC era is 1.80. Most of his conference appearances have been when the game is basically over, but he is pitching a lot better.
