I am saying we get Penn state and Maryland . Would not be surprised if we get Michigan too to give Michigan a win and trip to nyc area every other year. Especially if Michigan gets Michigan state and Ohio state as protected rivals . Could see the BIG giving Michigan a perceived breather with us. Same thought as I think they give OSU an annual game with Indiana. Gotta keep the big 2 happy.

Other teams : osu and Michigan will obviously be protected . This will be interesting as the teams could meet in back to back weeks under the new format . What happens to the “game”? Or do they try to play it a week earlier now ?

Penn state-Maryland

Iowa-nebraska is a Black Friday tradition .

Indiana -purdue

I have a feeling Wisconsin gets hooked up like usual . The Alvarez effect !

What else we got ?

Wait, we have rivalries? 🤭

Relaaaaaaaaax…

I guess the turtles. We came in together and should hang together like the odd kids invited to the party that all the other kids sneer at…come on Terrapins!

I think we just get Maryland. The only other teams we have any type of history with or recent success with are Penn State and Indiana, but I can't see the conference protecting PSU-RU for dismal TV ratings. I wouldn't mind Indiana but they have Purdue and long term relationships with the original B10 schools.

It will just be Maryland. I would love for Penn State to be a protected rivalry but don’t see it.

Same as others; we only get Maryland. It’s my understanding that we could get others in the future. Right now it’s counterproductive to be playing Ped State every year.

We are probably either getting just MD, or MD and PSU. The potential problem is that I think if they give us PSU, then they have to give PSU to MD also. PSU wants OSU as a protected game so PSU would have to be ok with 3 protected games. Here's what I see as most likely to least likely:

MD and us both with one protected game (each other)
MD and us both with two protected games (each other and PSU)
MD with just us, and we get both MD and PSU
Us stuck with MD only, and MD gets both us and PSU

So based on Adam Rittenbergs article, Penn state , while not having any annual protected rivalries, will have some opponent’s that they see 3 out of 4 years, and that that will likely be geographic in nature.
My take from that is that Penn state will likely see Rutgers , Maryland, and maybe even Ohio state in 3!out of 4 years.
From my standpoint as a Rutgers fan I can live with facing the nits 3!of 4 years.

I can see the league getting everyone to at least 2 protected rivals in 6 years I believe one of our protected rivals will be UCLA or USC. For the left coast v right coast every year
