So I'm being told that a few different banks are closing today in downtown Jackson due to protests regarding recent events. Anyone hear about anything like that

I haven't heard a thing, but this crap is going too far. At what point are we going to start questioning the actions of the suspect instead of the cops in many of these cases? What makes them think whites are somehow impervious to police "violence" anyway? Oh yeah, the media. They're more concerned with drama than the truth.

I think it's time we all ask ourselves some tough questions and not just dig in on one side of the issue and completely write off the other as bogus. There are valid, tough points on both sides. Social issues have become just as polarized as partisan politics. People on both sides aren't interested in listening to anyone or discuss issues anymore... Which I think is a bigger problem than the issues themselves. We've got to be able to come together and discuss and collaborate. As a country and as a society, we don't do that anymore.

From what I've seen, the Batin Rouge situation & the Muchigan one were very different.

speaking in absolutes when you were not present and haven't access to all of the facts does not help you make your point. Baton Rouge shooting could have been avoided if suspect had complied with Police officers. As for Michigan, I'm not fully up on all the details, but it looks like a bad shoot by a scared cop, not someone looking to murder in "cold blood".

I feel we don't know all the facts at this point. I just wanted to know if more than just banks are shutting down. City workers have been let go for the day, i do know that

It's true. All state building are being cleared by 2 and were locked down by 230. If you're a gov't worker, you got off early today.

And you are part of the problem

Both guys killed by police were murdered in cold blood. There is no other way to look at it.

Murdered in cold blood means the cops planned it out and had every intention on killing these two guys no matter what. The shooting in Baton Rouge is very justified as the suspect was fighting with police and was trying to pull a handgun out of his pocket. The one in Minnesota is a bad situation by a scared cop. I know it's hard to believe but there are a ton of cops that shouldn't be cops because they can't handle pressure situations. But not many people can.

If cops just wanted to kill black people or people in general, then the two black guys that shot cops today in St. Louis and Georgia would be dead. Instead, they were taken into custody.

There are many more white people in the US than blacks.

I just don't get it....the many times I've been pulled over, the DUI, speeding, even a broken tailight, etc...I've been pulled over at least 15 times. At least. Not once, ever, did I get smart with the cop, or flee, or resist, or fight. Nor did I even reach for my wallet until the officer asked for it. As a result, I've never been shot by a cop. I don't think it had anything to do with my skin color, either. If that's the case, why did I get pulled over to begin with? Rather, I like to think I survived simply because I complied and knew if the cop was in the wrong I would see him in court. The last thing I wanted to do was give someone with a gun on their hip a reason to get defensive.

I don't think this is about race as much as it's about making the right decisions. I might be missing something though.

You can not come at a cop, especially

With a weapon and expect not to be
hurt or killed (baton rogue). Minnesota
looked to be all on the officer but the video
i saw did not show what led to the shooting.
these cops are scared shitless.

Strange reasoning saying that it could have been avoided if the suspect had complied with officers, as if that was justification for shooting the dude 4 or 6 times. There's no evidence that he reached for a gun.

You defined premeditated murder. The guy in Baton Rouge was face down on concrete with two white cops on his back. Completely subdued. The cop at his head pulls a gun, points it execution style at the BACK of his head and murders him

There is no indication that the guy "came at the cops with a gun". There is no evidence in the video he ever reached for a gun. He was a hustler in Louisiana, you see them everywhere, just trying to sell some damn CDs and make a little money.

Wow. proof that people see things not as they are, but as they want to see them. This is why we are having the problems we are having today - because people like you are using words like "execution style" and "murder".

The guy was resisting arrest and reaching for a weapon. You don't want trouble from the cops? Don't break the law. Don't disobey a lawful order. Don't resist. You may live to talk about it. It's time that people accept responsibility for their actions instead of looking for someone to blame all the time.

I guess the guy in Ferguson was murdered in cold blood too?
