Thoughts?

Bama is getting a top DC, very good and relentless recruiter. His downside is he doesn't get alone with others, or didn't with us anyway. Saban being as experienced as he is may be able to keep him in line, don't think Kirby wanted to try his first time out. But a definite loss for us from a coaching standpoint.

great hire for OSU...Schiano built a competitive program at Rutgers...was led a pretty good defense as DC at Miami...

that's the kind of hire CMS needs to make at the coordinator position...looking like he's not interested in making significant changes this year...next year if things are still sour he's going to have to make some and go after a big time coach with coordinator and maybe even HC experience in a P5...will need to open up the bank...

Pruitt hire makes sense...deep Alabama roots...most of his coaching experience is in the state of alabama...

will be interesting to see how Kirby builds his staff...will it be younger guys or will he go for some established and experienced veterans...

I put D.J. Eliot right up there with those guys.

Remember, Eliot came from Florida State. You know, the team that won the natty a couple of years ago.

I don't want to act like I've got sources, but I suspect Meyer & OSU might be able to be a little more picky than Stoops & UK when it comes to coordinator hires. Don't ask me how I know, just write it down.

Two problems I see, Stoops will have an even tougher time finding top asst coaches next year unless he gets to a bowl, and I think it will be hard for Stoops to lure guys of that quality to UK...Year 1 might have been a better chance, if at all, IMHO.

Big-time programs don't mess around with first timers, they hire big-time coordinators

Heck it doesn't have too be big-time, UNCs hire of Chizik was the best off-season change for an embattled head coach going into 2015

Who will UGA end up with?

Word we are getting is Kevin Sheerer, a holdover from Richts staff or Rumph, the DL coach from UF. Doesn't really matter Smart will run the defense and my guess is we went with an older OC. Because Smart is turning over to him

We can't get guys at the coordinator position that OSU can. You are talking Urban Meyer vs. Mark Stoops. OSU football vs. UK football. Enough said.

I'm not necessarily saying Schiano himself...or even another higher profile name...but rather a guy who has some DC experience at least if not HC experience...who is between jobs...even if they've been fired...a lot of times solid coordinators don't make the best HCs, but they got the opportunity because they did a really good job as coordinator...

...and just about everyone has a price...OSU and Meyer may be more prestigious...but I doubt Schiano cared a lot about that...money talks...

I think UK could be in play for a lot more folks than people think if they started offering million dollar salary packages for coordinators...

Al Golden is out there...HC experience...Penn St LBs, UVA D coordinator...

Randy Edsall...Sylvester Croom...Norm Chow...George O'leary...Ruffin Mcneil...Mike London...
