Mauti has ~ 25,000 Twitter followers.

Jay has ~ 48,000 followers.

Pope and Lubrano don’t have accounts as far as I can tell.

Krieger has ~ 830,000 followers.
Impressive, but the question is how many of those followers are PSU alumni who feel like voting. The demographics skew heavily towards male graduates from '70s, '80s, and '90s. They are less likely to be on Twitter/In and their spouses are on FB (to see grandkids stuff). I would give Jay the upper hand here.

Lots of comments from people saying they’ve never voted before but will. Does Jay‘s spat with Mauti hurt him?

I wonder if Brandon switches to the Forward group when he runs, because they will be running against him if he doesn't. What a disappointment Brandon is, talk about a single issue trustee and then a rubber stamp for everything else.

FOOTBALL. o_O

What's his single issue? Joe? Football?

Over the last 3+ years, there have been 159 items brought up for Board vote (you can check and see).
157 times - including tuition increases, room and board increases, insanely overpriced capital projects, and a budget that made a historic deficit BIGGER,
Short simply said "Yes".

But, yeah, football. "Whatever we spend on football is never enough"
It is what it is.

(FWIW: I don't think there have been nearly enough "No - we have to do better - and here is how we can" votes. But the top 3, aside from that one guy, wrt saying "No" are Lubrano (#1), Pope and Paterno - FWIW)

There is a significant portion of our society that feels that no matter how inane your "take" may be - even if it is 180 degrees from anything resembling truth or intelligent reason - the key is to say it often enough, loud enough, and in the most simplistic way possible (the dumber the better), and you can control the masses.
It is what it is.

Alas.
So that’s how jay and lubrano got re-elected. Glad we’re finally seeing people take a stand against them.

Is everything sort of revealed and discussed in real time or do some members caucus in advance? Are items known about before meetings?

I am on an extended Board break but have taken time to read as much as I reasonably could about all the candidates in this election. As some here know, I have put Penn State in my rear view mirror and no longer live and die with news from Old Main. Still, there will always be a bit of love for Dear Old State deep inside me and so I have tried to be as objective as I could. To the extent anyone cares, and I would think that at least these three do, I am voting for Lubrano, Pope, and Paterno. That said, I will return to my Board sabbatical and hope to be back here in the fall. Until then, have a safe, happy, summer, and may God bless us, every one.

Thank you, sir. Happy summering to you and Mrs. G.

Yeah, but how does that help win more football games? ;)

And that’s my question about those three. I highly doubt they are saying no to football, but are most likely saying no to the proposals the way they are written. But…how would I know…none of them communicate with the alumni they supposedly represent.

Dr. Pope posts frequent updates and is quickly responsive to messages.

And for those who don’t use The Facebook, Pope is also active on LinkedIn.

PSU Superfan Caroline seems to support the Short/Mauti candidates…Caroline is maybe the biggest PSU fan I’ve ever seen. Just relentless.

Do you think "superfan" has even the slightest clue about even one thing relevant to the PSU BOT? Not that such an absence would disqualify her from being an expert on the topic :) She probably has the same knowledge level as some of the candidates.

I’d be comfortable taking her advice on what to wear to a White Out.

Yeah, because funding the football program is the only issue PSU faces. How about borrowing at Prime + 15?
