It’s gonna kill JD (I hate Penn State) Rader to credit the Nittany Lions on their beat down of the Hawkeyes on FRL tomorrow. ISU is his team but he is such a homer on all things Iowa. He’ll probably give a backhanded compliment of some sort and follow with that snarky chuckle of his. Did I mention I’m not a fan of JD?
His comparison of Angelo to Cael was hilarious. Angelo could go 100-0 but he’d have no Hodges and about a 20% bonus rate. Just stop!

All moot now

You know, I'm typically not the guy to beat up on Iowa too much. I neither like or truly hate Tom Brands, but you really do have to wonder if his job will be in some jeopardy now. My suspicion is that he was already on thin ice with the administration, then you have some really nasty rumors about the Endene situation (that may or may not be true) and now this. I wonder if all PSU fans shouldn't be writing letters to the AD at Iowa asking that she NOT fire Tom Brands because he's great for the university (of course we'd have to get some Iowa alumni stationary and envelopes and distribute them I guess). ;)

I know a guy who knows a guy in Johnstown Pennsylvania who has closets full of Iowa Stationary

In the Flo week 12 writeup Spey says "With just two seniors in the starting ten, there are no signs of this dynasty ending anytime soon.". Who is he counting besides Levi?

The punch line was forgetting the name, not actually naming someone.
Long term, Angelo will be compared to … that guy who used to stall a lot and wrestle 2-1 matches … I forget his name.

Tsirtsis?
In all fairness it could have been Jason Tsirtsizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Im pretty good a starting rumors and we all know Mitchell is pretty darn intelligent.

What Cael left out was this match wouldn't have happened without Mitchell. The word on the street and tarmac is that when the plane had a hydraulic leak, the team went back to Rec, Except for Mitchell. He ran through step by step instructions to the plane mechanic on the fix and got it done in under 7 minutes.

From a post on the Intermat forum I couldn't get to paste here.

"In the last 4 duals against each other, Penn State has won the takedown game against Iowa, 67-11."

Edit: Never trust unverified information! I went through gopsusports.com and determined the TD beatdown against Iowa is even worse. In the last four duals Penn State won the TD battle against Iowa 76-17!

2025-2026 season: 15-2

2024-2025 season: 24-8

2023-2024 season: 21-5

2022-2023 season: 16-2

76-17 total

You’re right, we don’t know what instructions Brands gave to Arnold. It might be that he had seen Levi beat Kennedy pretty badly twice and just felt that Arnold had a better chance in that particular matchup. He made it clear that Kennedy is the guy going forward.

Or he might have felt that he owed one to Arnold after sitting him in last year’s dual. 🤔

Or, given that Kennedy is 9-1 overall and still undefeated in b1g, Brands may be just trying to protect Kennedy's seed in the b1g tourney.

Which would mean the whole "it was best for him, best for the team" bs was Brands being a drama queen.
Imagine that, who would have thought 17 years ago this April that Penn State hiring Cael Sanderson would eventually pressurize Brands into a babbling, drama queen.

That would be dumb because Kennedy is close to locked into the 2 or 3 seed at B10s, i.e. opposite side away from Levi. Which is the only seeding aspect that matters. (He'll be favored to win out with Minto, Kharchla, and Mantanona left, and has already beaten Kharchla once this year.)

Let's say Kennedy lost to Levi in the dual. Only 2 ways they're on the same side at B10s: (1) Minto gets the 1 by beating both of them; (2) Kennedy loses 2 more time in conference and slips to the 4.

If Kennedy beat Levi in the dual (play along here!), he's the 1 seed unless the same 2 scenarios above play out.

So what seed would Brands be protecting?
