Which would mean the whole "it was best for him, best for the team" bs was Brands being a drama queen.
Imagine that, who would have thought 17 years ago this April that Penn State hiring Cael Sanderson would eventually pressurize Brands into a babbling, drama queen.
He has always been a babbling drama queen.

That would be dumb because Kennedy is close to locked into the 2 or 3 seed at B10s, i.e. opposite side away from Levi. Which is the only seeding aspect that matters. (He'll be favored to win out with Minto, Kharchla, and Mantanona left, and has already beaten Kharchla once this year.)

Let's say Kennedy lost to Levi in the dual. Only 2 ways they're on the same side at B10s: (1) Minto gets the 1 by beating both of them; (2) Kennedy loses 2 more time in conference and slips to the 4.

If Kennedy beat Levi in the dual (play along here!), he's the 1 seed unless the same 2 scenarios above play out.

So what seed would Brands be protecting?
But it’s easier to use one line to speculate ..

From a post on the Intermat forum I couldn't get to paste here.

"In the last 4 duals against each other, Penn State has won the takedown game against Iowa, 67-11."

Edit: Never trust unverified information! I went through gopsusports.com and determined the TD beatdown against Iowa is even worse. In the last four duals Penn State won the TD battle against Iowa 76-17!

2025-2026 season: 15-2

2024-2025 season: 24-8

2023-2024 season: 21-5

2022-2023 season: 16-2

76-17 total
As a %, isnt 67-11 worse?

There is an adage in talk radio / entertainment
that is if you cannot be good... be controversial.

Well.... Chael is certainly controversial...

For the love of wrestling, I pray that the Rocco match is not on "B1G Wrestling in 60." It may be an upset victory over a #1 ranked wrestler, but it could set the sport back fifty years if casual viewers thought this was a big time match.

Your prayers were not answered. I think it was #2 or #3.

Anybody else think they sat Kennedy just so he wouldn't get bonused? Brands was in damage control with that one and he knew Arnold would refuse to wrestle and keep it to a decision.

Also, did anybody notice that Ford Festiva's "injury" occurred at about the same time it looked like he was going to lose? I got some serious DeSanto vibes during that match. I wouldn't put it past him to sit out this weekend to save face and make it seem like he only lost because he's hurt.

Angelo is apparently out for Friday's match against Nebraska, which might end up costing them the match, so if they're faking an injury to make excuses, they are really taking it to an extreme. LOL.

Toward the end of the match he was standing at the edge of the circle rubbing his nose trying to find blood. When that didn't work, he was rubbing his chin. When he couldn't find any blood to stop the match, he started limping.

If “they’re” faking an injury?

This implies that the Iowa coaching staff would be involved in a Ferrari decision like that.

I get the strong impression that the Ferrari clan considers coaches to be white noise when it comes to decision making in their life. Sort of that Loki vibe.

Spencer Lee’s dad has an X-ray that shows Angelo’s injury is real.

I would love to see Spencer get named Head Coach and his mother would get the job that Alex Marinelli wife had. After every losing bout (9 times on Friday)she should trash the pair of glasses she was wearing. Warby Parker could be cooperate sponsor.
It would be must watch TV.
I used to hate watching Marinelli’s weird wife stomp around by the Iowanker bench like some sort of butch-lesbo drill sergeant. Move on, hag

That's kind of rough. LOL. They showed her too much, like I really don't care to see her get 10 full minutes worth of air time, but whatever, she wouldn't have bothered me if they didn't overexpose her.

Watching the Messenbrunk match again. At about 20 seconds left in the first, Caliendo fends off takedown and both to their feet. Mitch is literally smiling at him. Anyone else catch that? Now something like that is what makes idiots say Mitch is cocky but I'd bet my life it was nothing like that. I watched it over and over again and I'm sure Mitch was totally enjoying the fight and competion Caliendo was giving him. I thought it was a really cool moment I almost missed.
This is interesting, I was just reading through this thread and catching up on the comments here.

So I’m a teacher and showed the match today to that point and paused it, and asked the kids what their perceptions were. I explained a bit about the two wrestlers and their history, and then we talked about the mindset of someone like MM and how that can be applied in the classroom and life. After that I showed the last ten seconds and the takedown to an MD and asked the same questions.

I commented on Youtube too, my guess is that MM will be the next head coach at Penn State for the same reasons. I have no idea how good he is with certain managerial things, but his mind is the best I’ve ever seen.

Yeah, they seem to be in disarray. If they still had Endine, just send Arnold out at 84, not much harm given Angelo's propensity to score points.

If Angelo ever gets a sore knee and is forced to stay standing, he might score more points.

My older brother used to get water on the knee semi frequently from wrestling and needed to have it drained. That seemed to be a thing years ago, but I don't hear about it anymore. A bit gross, the fluid would pretty much slosh around in there like a water balloon. Trust me, when it was drained it wasn't just water, yuck.
