I saw an article online with an injured list - not expected to play or questionable. The list for PSU looked a little long, but I cannot relocate the article. I cannot remember the names of the PSU players other than Allar, but it was maybe ten guys out/questionable. We got guys banged up, but other than Raiola and Gottula, everyone that has been playing looks to be available.

Not that it matters much for this game but most of PSU’s recruiting and support staff has already left for VT. I’m not sure the remaining assistants have much motivation to make a bowl game because it looks like Franklin will put the band back together at VT.

Hopefully we will smell blood in the water then.

Just talking to my janitor about this. How many kids on PSU's depth chart plan on heading to Blacksburg after their last final exam?

I think we'd all agree, the mental edge or lack of it by PSU could determine the course of this game. Nothing worse than a team that has checked out mentally. Let's hope that's the PSU mindframe.

Whoever the new coach is and it's not going to be Terry Smith it will be a big name coach, he is not going to keep James Franklin's old staff currently coaching this week. I'm not saying this will make a difference in the outcome but it certainly will be in the back of the minds of the players.

I hope PSU crashes and burns but I think it's a dick move for much of any staff to leave before the season is over. Maybe I'm just old fashioned that way.

I would usually agree. But the school made the mid season decision on the coach who hired these people. I can’t fault the staff following the coach who gave them the opportunity

My thoughts

- This game has no factor on whether this is a step forward for the program
- Away game at night is never easy
- I always want NU to win and this game is no different, but this game is just funky in so many ways IMO
- HCMR wins Penn State will want him and offer him
- HCMR loses Penn State moves on completely
- The game will tell a lot more about Lateef

My prediction is Nebraska pulls out the W, and oddly enough it will just cause more drama. I want to finish 9-3 and that would make me the happiest. However, if we lose the game tomorrow and win against Iowa I will still be happy with the season. Beat Penn State and lose to Iowa, I will honestly feel disappointed with the season.

The firing of Franklin by Penn St caused a huge distraction for NU and cost us the MN game.

Ironically, the hiring of Franklin by VT has caused a huge distraction for Penn St and may cost them the NU game.

I totally agree with the huge distraction Franklins firing caused but ultimately it was Rhule's lack of total commitment to Nebraska that cost Nebraska that game. I've seen so many people say Minnesota out played Nebraska that night and yes they did outplay Nebraska but it wasn't because they were better, it was because we had players on Nebraska who's minds were not on the task at hand. That Minnesota loss is totally on Matt Rhule, we play that game again and there is no way Nebraska loses.

Now as far as the PSU game it will be interesting to see which State team shows up, they do have a lot of distractions going on right now. These are smart kids and they probably know Terry Smith and the rest of the staff will not be back next year. There are a lot of star players on that Penn State roster who will be playing for themselves and not for a meaningless low tier bowl game, those players will be playing for draft spots.

I have no idea if Nebraska will win this game or even keep it real close but I do want our guys to come out of it healthy and show we have heart. Those that think all the players at Penn State are fighting for a 500 record are bit misled by media, maybe lower depth chart players want to go to a low tier bowl but I doubt many of the top players could care less. This game for me is a crap shoot and I'm not good at dice games. ;)

Don’t believe this. Not for a second.

I do believe the PSU distraction hurt us but I put a lot of the blame for Minnesota on Dana. Coaches have off days too. He had one then.
