PSU is winnings the draws at a 2-1 clip, and was outshooting Hopkins at the half, when the score was 4-4. Since then, PSU has still done well on the draws, but they are falling apart in their offensive sets. They get deep in the shot clock, and then seem to force passes in, which either their teammate drops or Hopkins intercepts; either way, turnover.

it's 6-4, Hopkins, with 4:37 left in the 3rd qtr., so there's still time for PSU to correct their mistakes, and take the match.

yeah, that's usually the case. I think the final was 10-5, Hopkins, or 9-5, Hopkins. Disappointing execution by PSU.

Any chance that Coach Doherty will be relieved of her coaching duties this off-season? It’s clear that something is amiss in the womens lacrosse program these days between your best player leaving the program to sit on the bench at UNC, lackluster recruiting results, poor results on the field, yet having Star lacrosse players on the coaching staff (Haus and Hendrick).

I tend to doubt it. Missy took the team to the Final Four a few years ago, and has had the team at or near the top of the B1G for most of her tenure. And a new AD is joining PSU, so he's probably going to want to spend some time evaluating the different programs.

The results in the past few years have been disappointing. Olivia Dirks was their best player, from suburban Philadelphia, and left via the portal to join UNC. That certainly hurt the team.

There were rumblings during the 2021 season that things were amiss in the program. Dirks left at the end of the season, and I think both of the assistant coaches left. That type of turnover in the coaching staff is bound to impact recruiting.

Good news for Grant! My eldest will be playing womens lacrosse for a prominent D1 school next season!
Bad news, it's not Penn State (but is a PAC12 school).

congratulations. I would have been more enthusiastic if you indicated she'd be playing for PSU, but being able to play for a prominent D1 schools is a great accomplishment. I wish her the best of luck in the coming years, and hope that you make an effort to get to a lot of her games. (PSU's WLAX parents are really active behind the scenes. Many of them go to all of their daughter's games, and they, collectively (there is a name for the group) organize a meal for the team at each away game.)
