I honestly think they prepared for a running UAB offense rather than the long ball. UAB ran all over Troy for 350 yards so the passing game possibly was a surprise.

Mellow? UAB rushed for 2.6 yards a carry. Their QB got hit on every drive. They converted 3 of 16 3rd downs (.1875) and 0 of 2 fourth downs. State's DE had a pick 6. State blocked a punt - first time in forever.

The problem was that they had 27 yards per completion.
