Punt and kickoff returns--where was DPE?

Well, they didn't punt so that kind of limits the punt returns.
I have no stats to back this up, but I have thought the exact opposite. I think he's maybe had one or two decent kick returns but several that end up short of the 25 and even the 20. I was thinking there must be someone better suited to return kicks than him, but maybe this is just a chance to get experience.
My thoughts exactly. Bryant hasnt done much on the return side. When he fielded the ball on the sideline at tue 3 yard line, I was like WTF would want to field that for? let it go out of bounds or through the endzone. very small percentage that that ball stays in bounds and doesnt go into the endzone. That isnt the first time he has done that this year. he just doesnt look like he has the shiftiness a successful return man needs.
Bryant is an example of why you don't want a kick returner who doesn't get any other touches. He returns every kick that isn't 5 yards deep in the end zone and consistently puts us in poor field position. Of the 7 kickoffs he returned, he only got 2 beyond the 25, and those were to the 26 and 28. One of his returns (on a kick that probably would have gone out of bounds) left us starting at the 10.
If I am the opposing coach and Tre is returning kicksn I would tell my kicker that the ball better get to him at about the 3 yard line. DO NOT kick it into tye endzone.

I think everyone except Bryant was thinking that. Special teams, minus the kicking game, have been zero fun to watch for some time now.
I agree, TE doesn't look particularly fast or quick, plus he has made some frost-like decisions. We need more speed at RB---only newby has breakaway speed (jmo) and he is a senior.
OK, I have to back down some, I had forgotten about the 3 yd line decision when I wrote that. I'll grant that his decision-making has been a little - uh - optimistic. But I still thought the actual running was pretty good, considering that the coverage was also good.
If on the field results are what you are looking for out of your ST coach, then Read is probably not your guy. If you're looking for something else, then maybe he is your guy.
If he would have been smart about it, he should have put a foot out of bounds when he caught it. NU would have gotten the ball on the 35.
That would be a fairly risky decision if the refs would decide whether he caught it before he planted the foot. I had never thought about that as a possibility and I guess by the books it would be out of bounds.
