I'm good with it and happy for him. Won 20+ games all 3 years and been to the tourney twice. Should have been to the tourney all 3 years if they didn't have a collapse 2 years ago. He's actually more successful than Schaefer was over the same time period at State but of course, Purcell is somewhat living off of what Schaefer built State into.

He’ll never be close to what Vic was for us and those were some great times to be a Mississippi State Bulldog fan!
Too bad a lot folks on here missed some of the greatest teams to ever wear the Maroon and White and some of the most electric and fun games and wins in our history of sports.
Glad I could experience the Hump during that run and actually got to see a couple of SEC road wins during that time when if certainly felt and sounded like we had taken over the opposing arena.
Just wish we could have hoisted a Natty trophy in one of those NC games.

We could possibly do better, but I’m positive that we could do worse. At the end of the day, it’s women’s basketball and unless we’re great, I don’t think the vast majority of State fans care

Exactly. And who knows…. he may improve the program over time.

The only way to do any better would be to break the bank on a big name coach. I don’t think women’s basketball is at that level at State. He’s doing fine by me and he’s still learning how to be a head coach.

If we had broken the bank hiring a coach in women’s basketball this board would have been glorious

Without larger investment in women's sports, it doesn't matter who the coach is. But I'd rather invest in football, so whatever.

NIL changed the game in Women’s Basketball and we’re no longer playing in the big leagues.
Any success he has is a job well done.

There’s just no way to justify a 7-figure NIL spend in that sport. If the men still sucked it might be different.

A few years back, my daughter and I were having lunch in the Union. He was at the next table with an assistant coach. Over hearing their conversation I wasn't sure if he coached college girls or junior high girls.

My hat is off to him and I wish him best of luck. He is doing a good job.

If he just maintains this level of making the tournament and winning a game or two every year then his seat will never be hot. He doesn’t have to be Vic to be considered a success, IMO.

Collectives are dead and I can’t imagine there’s much revenue share left over after baseball gets their cut.

I’m not sure I believe collectives are dead.
I’d love to think that the university portion of revenue share is all there is, but I don’t think that toothpaste is being put back in the tube.

He's a good coach and it is good he got an extension. I hope he has continued success with the new model for college sports.
