Wow beating the crap out of them at Mackey. Inside, outside, 3's. Up by 20 with 5 mins left in first half.

I’ve been pointing out this past week that until today MSU has had all home games in the B1G, except for one road game at struggling NW, and that they were likely to lose their share of road games in conference. Game’s not over but today was MSU’s first challenge on the road in the B1G.

This is the thing about 3-point shooting teams like Purdue. They can look AWFUL if the shots aren’t falling - I think they were 4 of 33 in that horrid road loss to Illinois last week - but can look like Sweet 16 caliber when the shots are falling.

Do we get them at home or away, or both? And have we defeated them since December, 1975, when we knocked them off at MSG on our way to a 31-0 season, before losing in the Final Four?

Purdue is a completely different team home and away
So is every B1G team that has great difficulty winning on the road. What is so hard to understand is the shooting percentages of players who are supposed to be star players and yet they shoot bricks on the road.Parity can be viewed as tough competition or mediocrity in discussion of game location.

This game, and the Michigan losing to minny game continue to prove that not only has the Big Ten front office given the strict orders to give the home team the whistle, but to show how much an affect on the flow of the game and thus confidence/momentum of good shooters that officiating has on the game.

Dave. Have you ever played a sport college level where you really had to travel and play? Flying somewhere and staying in a hotel one night and playing a game the next morning or early afternoon? Just wondering.
Do you think they adjust the baskets pre game and halftime for the visiting team?
I'm not mocking you sir. Just saying its not an easy thing and given the numbers WAY too many examples to be some grand conspiracy.
If anything. I would think the B1G would LOVE Rutgers to make the tourney for the PR and showing strength of conference.

And playing on a strange court with a different background, depth perception, and floor than you're comfortable with.

I was shocked when I turned on the TV in the second half and saw that score. What's amazing, is they just didn't beat them they beat the snot out of them. Also, just think, this is the same Purdue team that was held to only 37 points against Illinois at Illinois.

Just a theory going around some B1G forums because not only is the home court winning percentage insanely toppled this year in the Big Ten, but also the fouls and free throw attempt discrepancy

I wouldn’t want to be at MSU’s next practice. Izzo will be pissed. Way too many mental errors for them and things snowballed from there.

You think it’s unreasonable for someone in the Big Ten front office to study conferences who had the most teams make the NCAA and realize historically it was when teams won their home games, and NOT happen to tell their officials this stat which makes the conference millions $$ for every team that makes it in ..?

Do you know how many people would have to be in on that? Word would get out so quickly? Never mind in the day and age of sports betting something like that would probably be on the edge of of illegal

In a sport like basketball there is something very comfortable about being home. The sounds, sights, colors, routine etc probably give basketball the biggest home court advantage

I won’t discount that refs might get caught up in the home “momentum” during the game, but the idea there is some Big Ten conspiracy is lunacy

Purdue is the best team in the country at home. Period. Picking anyone to win at Mackey is insane. We beat you by 40 like 5 times in a row home or away. Save 1 game. We have historically been the best team in Big 10 history if you don’t count Final Fours. We have a winning record over every except OSU and we are tied with them in heads up wins

Purdue also beat Virginia by 29 earlier this season.

You are a different team home and away. You are tough at Mackey but you just scored 37 at Illinois last week so stop beating your chest. Coming on this site and saying you beat us by 40 for 5 straight is also news. 2 years ago you were lucky to win both the game at the RAC and the game at MSG in the quarterfinals in both games that went to the wire or to the last minute. Cannot wait to hear from you after we play you in less than 2 weeks at the RAC . We had been terrible for a long time but we are back and only going to get better. Get used to losing to Rutgers and it will not be an upset .

Agreed. Unfounded conspiracy theories, and people's willingness to believe them, are totally screwing up the world on every front way beyond sports.

what are you all worked up for? Nobody is challenging Purdue’s history vs Rutgers.
